Our First Ever Judo Tournament! 🇵🇭🥋

This past weekend marked a huge milestone for Judo Bohol — for the very first time since our club was founded, we traveled to compete in a major international judo tournament in Manila!

We flew in with nine athletes, joined by supportive friends, family, and teammates, and the energy throughout the trip was incredible. Everyone was a bit nervous — it was the first judo competition ever for most of our judokas — but the excitement and team spirit made it a truly unforgettable experience.

Even for me as coach, it was a special challenge: guiding my athletes through every step before, during, and after their matches. But seeing their courage and determination on the mat made me incredibly proud. 💪

And while medals aren’t everything, we’re thrilled to share that our two youngest competitors, both just 6 years old, made it to the podium! 🥉
• Lian placed 3rd in the youngest girls’ division
• Prince placed 3rd in the youngest boys’ division

Adding to that, Sensei Alford Marimon also brought home a bronze medal, and our dynamic brothers Jeff and Jarred Bagasala both achieved 7th place in their divisions.

That means Judo Bohol came home with 3 bronze medals and 2 seventh places — an amazing result for our very first tournament! 🎉

Beyond the matches, the weekend was full of laughter and team bonding — from two epic Korean BBQ nights to a fun roller-skating session on Monday before flying back to Bohol.

A special heartfelt thank you to Sensei Alford 🙏 — without his incredible administrative work and dedication, none of this would have been possible. You made this dream a reality for all of us.

We’re already looking forward to the next challenge — stronger, wiser, and more motivated than ever. 🥋🔥
