The Silence of the Board, The Weight of the Word. 🏛️♟️

"Every move speaks, what will yours say?"

Yesterday at the TUPV Library, the answer was clear: Resilience. In the sweltering heat of the afternoon, the silence of the library was filled with the unspoken language of the "Devarim" tournament.

Gerald M. Sia spoke the loudest, clinching the championship with a dominant 4-point run. He is followed by Eric Tubongbanua, Cole Torrejon, and Jan Vincent Omen, who all fought through the fatigue and the sun to secure their places in the Top 4.

Thank you to everyone who stepped up to the board. Your moves spoke of courage, patience, and a refusal to back down. 👑🔥

Congratulations to everyone who participated in this month’s tournament! Not just to our winners, but to all players—we, the organizers, truly appreciate your time, effort, and sportsmanship.

A special shoutout to our champion, 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝑻𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒋𝒐𝒏, for winning the tournament after a series of hard-fought, competitive, yet friendly matches.

Speed and precision took center stage in last night’s 5+0 blitz chess tournament, where teams battled under intense time pressure and razor-sharp decision-making. Each match delivered thrilling moments, with players relying on instinct and strategy to outplay their opponents in rapid fashion.

Emerging on top was 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢-𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐨, claiming the championship title with consistent and dominant performances throughout the night. 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚 secured a strong second-place finish, while 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐏𝐮𝐟𝐟 𝐁𝐨𝐲𝐬 rounded out the podium in third after a series of hard-fought matches.

With every move played under pressure, the tournament proved that teamwork, quick thinking, and composure are the true keys to victory—setting the stage for even more exciting battles in the future.

TUPV chess players, we’re inviting you to be part of this 3x3 Rapid Chess Tournament.

Three teams have already secured their spots: Team Kalbo, Team Tubongbanua, and Redeem Team. Only four slots remain.

Form your own 3-man team and compete together. This is a good chance to test your teamwork, sharpen your skills, and experience competitive play in a different format.

Yesterday, members of the PIYESA Chess Club shared a special moment of bonding with our former Club Adviser 𝐷𝑟. 𝐷𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑦𝑛 𝐺. 𝐿𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑎, LPT, RPm, RGC, Rpsy, PhD, former President 𝑅ℎ𝑒𝑛𝑧 𝐶𝑒𝑑𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑘 𝐴𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑟𝑜, and 𝐸𝑛𝑔𝑟. 𝐽𝑎𝑚 𝐴𝑒𝑟𝑎 𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑒, 𝑅𝑀𝐸 alongside current Chess Club President 𝑀𝑖𝑧𝑎𝑒𝑙 𝐷. 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑏𝑎𝑡𝑒 and the Chess Club Officers. It was a great time of connection, shared stories, and appreciation for the people who continue to support and grow our chess community.
