ℹ️Labor Day in the Philippines began as part of the global fight for workers’ rights, but it has its own important history. On May 1, 1903, more than 100,000 Filipino workers marched from Tondo to Malacañang to demand fair wages, better working conditions, and an end to colonial rule. This was led by the 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘖𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢 𝘥𝘦 𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴 (𝘜𝘖𝘋𝘍) and is considered the first Labor Day protest in the country.

Since then, May 1 has been observed as a day to celebrate workers and continue advocating for their rights. Up to today, it remains a time when workers gather and speak out for fair treatment, just compensation, and dignity in labor.
