🏕️ Camp Spotted Wood Conservation Camp in Villa Escudero is an environmental and outdoor skills education initiative that brings together Scouts and community partners to promote the Barako Trio legacy, conservation, leadership, teamwork, and responsible citizenship through hands-on activities that protect and preserve the natural environment.

The success of the Camp Spotted Wood Conservation Camp is made possible through the collective efforts of Barako Publishing and its : Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort, Camp Spotted Wood, The APPA Menagerie, Rover Circle XXIII - Musketeers, and Task Force Magtatanim. Our shared commitment to environmental protection, heritage preservation, youth development, and community engagement promotes the camp’s mission of inspiring today’s Scouts and volunteers to become responsible stewards of the environment.

This August 1, we proudly commemorate the anniversary of the very first Scout camp held on Brownsea Island in 1907, led by Robert Baden-Powell. This historic event sparked the Scout Movement and continues to inspire millions of Scouts around the world.

A new study has found that human connection to nature has declined at the same rate as the loss of natural words in books over the last 200 years.

The study by Miles Richardson, a professor of nature connectedness at the University of Derby, also predicts an ongoing 'extinction of experience' of nature for future generations unless drastic policy and societal changes are made.

He says this has to be bigger than just increasing green spaces in cities, as our connection to nature is not being passed down through generations and fostered from an early age.
