Energy, skill, and fun filled the day. Employees showed great focus and teamwork in every match. Everyone played with heart and gave their best on the court and at the table. It was a wonderful day of sports, friendship, and healthy competition.

A meeting of the Organizing Committee was held for the City’s hosting of the National PRISAA Games 2027, headed by Mayor Khymer Adan T. Olaso as Committee Chairperson. His Vice Chairpersons were Councilor Elbert “B**g” Atilano, Sr. and Councilor Elking Omaga. Also present were department heads, City Administrator Percival Ramos, Sports Officers Dr. Cecil Atilano, Jonathan de Sosa, and Rafael Nicolas Evangelista IV, representatives from the Department of Education, City Police, ZAMCELCO, ZCWD, and different division chiefs.
Committee members gathered to discuss and plan the upcoming major event. Councilor Elbert “B**g” Atilano led the discussion and provided important guidance on preparations for the games. He identified the different competition venues, facilities, safety measures, transportation, and all the needs of visiting athletes, coaches, officials, and guests.
Everyone shared ideas and worked together to ensure the event would be well organized, safe, and successful. The team is fully committed to delivering a memorable 6th National PRISAA Games 2027, a Zamboanga City can be truly proud of.

August was a productive and successful month for our division. We organized different sports activities and preparations for upcoming events. Our team remained committed to supporting athletes and promoting sports development in the city.

The Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex (Grandstand) will be CLOSED starting August 27, 2026 for renovation works until further notice.
We are doing this to improve the facility and make it safer and better for everyone. Thank you for your understanding.

Engr. II Glimel Gonzales from the City Engineer’s Office and Project in Charge Spurway Robert Aguspina, together with Councilor Elbert “B**g” Atilano, Cecilia Atilano, Ed.D., and Sports Development Officer III Jonathan De Sosa, inspected the oval at the City Grandstand for upcoming renovation works.
This visit ensured that all needed repairs and improvements will be properly carried out to make the facility safe, durable, and ready for everyone to use. A great step toward a better sports venue.

𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐀𝐌𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐀 𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐘| Mayor Khymer Olaso Thursday night, August 27, exude hospitality during the victory celebration for 20 Zamboangueño young athletes who returned from the 2026 Palarong Pambansa with a 25-medal haul .
The celebration honored the athletes who represented Zamboanga City at the national games in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, from May 19 to 31, where they competed under the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletics Association (ZPRAA).
The athletes brought home 17 gold, two silver, and six bronze medals from competitions in badminton, chess, dancesports, kickboxing, pencak silat, weightlifting, and athletics.
Olaso congratulated the athletes for their performance and expressed confidence in their continued development and pursuit of excellence in sports, encouraging them to sustain the discipline and determination that brought them to the national stage.
He likewise presented certificates of commendation to the athletes in recognition of their performance at the Palarong Pambansa.
Moreover, Olaso had also joined the Zamboanga delegation during the national games, where he provided support and boosted the athletes' morale as they competed under the theme "Unlocking the Future Through Sports."
The victory party served as the city government's celebration of the athletes' national-level performance and recognition of their contribution to Zamboanga City's sporting achievements.
Present at the momentous occassion were Councilor B**g Atilano, City Sports Division Chief Dr. Cecil Atilano, Department of Education (DepEd) - Zamboanga City Division representative Dr. Basilio Uy, coaches, and the athletes.
