Participated in the Kugi x Zamboanga Trail ..

As expected, the venue was filled with excitement, long queue in the check in booth, saw familiar faces and a notable number of new blood, doing their own race routine. Everyone is beyond ready to take on the trails (so it seems).

A few weeks back..

Reconned the route twice, familiarized with the trail path and the terrain. A lot has changed since, new local store inside the route, trash everywhere, and a new perspective in the scenery.

The RD Kik Suello did a great job, the route was exhilarating and challenging.

Gunstart. 3...2...1... and everyone is gone..

AS was placed strategically, and the runners can find a local store/pop up store in between AS. The event was organized logistically proactive and exceptional.

But the heartbreaking part..

Generally speaking.

Majority of the participants have their running gears just to comply with the race rules. It is mandatory for a reason. Use it!

No common courtesy with fellow runners, with the marshals, and especially with the local community. Remember we are guests in their backyard. Be courteous!

Zero respect with the environment, seen a lot of bottled water and plastic wrappers along the way. Bring your trash with you. This is basic!

It is good that the trail comnunity in Zamboanga is growing..

Helps reconnect with nature, provide the locals opportunities with their livelihood. But everyone should contribute to take care of it and protect it.

So, the next time you decide to go up in the trails or join a trail event..

Have some basic trail etiquette with you!
