Today, August 31, 2026, we commemorate National Heroes Day, observed every last Monday of August. It is a time to honor the Filipinos who courageously stood for our nation, as well as the countless unnamed heroes whose sacrifices and dedication helped shape our country’s freedom and identity.

This year’s theme, “𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒊𝒔𝒎, 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏,” reminds us that the spirit of our heroes continues to live on. As International Studies students, we are called to uphold their values by promoting unity, understanding, and service to both our nation and the global community.

Today, we honor the life and sacrifice of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino, Jr., whose courage helped awaken a nation and reignite the Filipino pursuit of democracy.

May his legacy inspire us to stand for truth, defend our freedoms, and continue working toward a just and peaceful Philippines.

On August 8, 2026, the International Studies Organization of the Ateneo (ISOA) gathered the International Studies community at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall (CDCH) for its General Assembly x ASEAN Day, with the theme, “PAGLAWIG: Cultural Currents Across the SEA.” 🌊⛵

The program featured the council reports, giving students a glimpse into the organization’s plans and initiatives for A.Y. 2026–2027. The 3rd Year BA International Studies seniors also shared their internship experiences, offering valuable insights and lessons from their journey. 💼🌐

The assembly continued with the oath-taking of the ISOA Council and the recognition of ISOA Moderator Mr. Jasper Noe Pioquinto, marking a new chapter of leadership and service for the organization. Adding to the celebration was our resource speaker, Br. Jeffrey U. Pioquinto, who shared “ASEAN-tastic! Stories, Surprises, and Stamp-worthy Lessons,” followed by a vibrant cultural showcase from the 1st to 3rd year students and an exciting ASEAN Kahoot Challenge. 🌐🧠

With new lessons, shared cultures, and stronger connections, ISOA officially sets sail into A.Y. 2026–2027—ready for another journey filled with growth, discovery, and unforgettable memories. 🌊💙⛵

On International Youth Day 2026, we stand united in celebrating the energy, creativity, resilience, and leadership of young people as vital agents of change who continue to shape their communities and contribute to a better world. As we observe this special occasion, we honor the theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” which highlights how young people may live in diverse circumstances, yet share common aspirations for dignity, opportunity, participation, and a sustainable future.

This theme reflects the shared hopes of youth across different communities, including those in Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), who continue to face unique challenges and barriers to opportunity. It is a call to recognize, support, and empower young people by amplifying their voices, nurturing their potential, and creating meaningful opportunities for them to lead and thrive.

On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering young leaders, supporting youth-led initiatives, and building inclusive partnerships that turn shared aspirations into meaningful action for a more just, resilient, and sustainable future.
