Gilgit: The historic Dain Bridge in Ishkoman Valley has collapsed after severe flooding, triggered by the blockade of the Ishkoman River between Dain and Chatorkhand due to massive inflows from Dain and Chatorkhand Nallahs.
Measuring 612 feet and constructed in 1984, the bridge was the only road link connecting thousands of residents to the rest of the region. Its collapse has left large parts of the valley isolated, severely impacting mobility and the delivery of essential supplies.
According to local sources, the disaster claimed the lives of a 75-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl in Dain village. The flooding also caused extensive damage to houses, properties, and other infrastructure, further compounding the hardship faced by affected communities.
