How our tiny negligence can harm our kids OVER ALL GROWTH

Changes to the oral structures from thumb sucking 👍🏻
What starts off as merely an instinctual need to seek nutrition and comfort can become a habit that extends into childhood❤️.
Developmentally, our little people should begin to grow out of thumb and finger sucking as they gain control over their phasing bite reflex around 6 months. 😬
Modern children have softer diets and less chances to explore their oral environments - chew toys tend to be large and not suitable for oral exploration as babies get older ( often due to choking hazards and safety issues). 🤷🏼‍♀️ So this inability to “grow out of” this infant habit can mean a few things:
1️⃣ impact on growth and development of the jaw and face muscles👦🏻
2️⃣impact on the growth and development of the jaw bones and teeth🦷
3️⃣ impact on the development of normal chewing and swallowing functions 👄
4️⃣ impact on the development of typical emotional and mental age appropriate coping strategies 🧠
