Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association has announced the list of probable players for the upcoming IMC Over-40s Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be held in Guyana West Indies, from 17th October to 31st October 2026. A total of 16 teams will participate in the mega event. Teams featuring in this World Cup are: Pakistan, Australia, India, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, USA, Zimbabwe, Canada, Wales, UAE, Hong Kong, Scotland and Namibia.

Pakistan enters the competition with strong recent performances in the Over-40s age group. In the IMC Over-40s T20 World Cup held in Karachi Pakistan, from 21st November to 1st December 2025, Pakistan Over-40s team finished as Runners-Up, with Australia lifting the title. In the last ODI Over-40s World Cup held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2024, South Africa were the Champions, while New Zealand finished as Runners-Up.

The probable list features considerable international experience, headlined by former Pakistan opening batsman Taufeeq Umar, who represented Pakistan in 44 Tests and 22 ODIs, scoring over 3,400 international runs, along with former Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Khan, who played 9 Tests, 13 ODIs and 5 T20Is, taking a total of 51 international wickets across the three formats. The list also includes former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Adnan Akmal, who featured in 21 Tests and 5 ODIs, and left-arm pacer Mohammad Khalil, who represented the national side in 2 Tests and 3 ODIs. Rounding out the international contingent are former opening batsman Khalid Latif, who played 5 ODIs and 13 T20Is, and Kamran Hussain, who featured in 2 ODIs for Pakistan, along with several seasoned first-class cricketers.

Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association expresses its profound grief and sorrow at the passing away of Qamar Ahmed, one of the most distinguished figures in the history of cricket journalism. The veteran broadcaster, writer and former first-class cricketer passed away after a cardiac illness at the age of almost 89 years.

Over a career spanning more than five decades, Qamar Ahmed established a record unmatched in cricket journalism, covering 450 Test matches, 738 One-Day Internationals and nine Cricket World Cups. He served as a cricket correspondent for BBC World Service and contributed regularly to some of the world's most respected publications, including The Guardian, The Times and The Daily Telegraph. Since 2011, he had been an Honorary Life Member of the Cricket Writers' Club of England, a recognition that spoke to his extraordinary standing in the global cricket community.

Qamar Ahmed held a special place in the Veterans Cricket community and maintained a warm association with the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association over the years, generously contributing articles for PVCA booklets and lending his distinguished pen to the cause of senior level cricket in Pakistan.

PVCA Chairman, Fawad Ijaz Khan, who had personally known Qamar Ahmed for many years, expressed his grief: "Losing Qamar Ahmed feels deeply personal to me. I had the privilege of knowing him closely for a long time and he was as warm and generous in person as he was brilliant in his craft. His warmth and wisdom will be greatly missed."

Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association extends its heartfelt condolences to veteran cricketer Malik Zubair Hussain and his family on the tragic loss of multiple family members in the devastating accident on the Murree Expressway.

Malik Zubair has been a part of the Veterans Cricket community for approximately 15 years and represented Barkat Gladiators Multan in the recently concluded National Seniors Cup. This heartbreaking tragedy has deeply saddened everyone associated with Veterans Cricket in Pakistan.

As per reports, the tragic accident occurred on the Murree Expressway when the family vehicle reportedly plunged into a ravine and caught fire, claiming 10 lives and leaving 13 others injured.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Malik Zubair and his family during this extremely difficult time. Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association stands in solidarity with Malik Zubair and his family and shares in their grief during this time of sorrow.

Sialkot — Faraz Sports Sialkot were crowned Champions of the 26th National Seniors Cup 2025-26 after defeating Southern Masters by 80 runs in the National Final played at Faraz Sports Cricket Ground Sialkot, on Saturday 6th June 2026. The National Seniors Cup comprising players aged over-40 stands as the top domestic veterans cricket competition in Pakistan held every year since 1998. The participating teams in this tournament are categorized into two major Zones: the Northern Zone and the Southern Zone. The Northern Zone comprises of Central Punjab, South Punjab, North Punjab, Islamabad/Rawalpindi/Kashmir region and the KPK region. Meanwhile, the Southern Zone consists of Sindh and Balochistan.

After being invited to bat first, Faraz Sports Sialkot posted a commanding total of 294 for 5 wickets in the allotted 30 overs. Adnan Butt led the batting with an aggressive 92 off 49 balls, striking 10 fours and 5 sixes, while Yasir Idrees contributed 72 runs and Sohail Shah added 58 runs to the total. Amir Siddique chipped in with his knock of 41 runs as the Faraz Sports’ innings was built on consistent contributions throughout the order. Javed Mansoor, Moazzam Ali, Muhammad Kashif, Sufiyan Butt and Rizwan Qureshi took one wicket each.

In reply, Southern Masters were bowled out for 214 in 27.1 overs, falling 80 runs short of the target. Bakhtiar Ali Magsi made 51 runs and Rizwan Qureshi contributed 42 runs. Despite a competitive lower-order effort, the Southern Masters side could not keep up with the required run-rate. Yasir Idrees was impressive with the ball in hand as well as he and Muhammad Zahid delivered spells of 3-24 and 3-39 respectively. Muhammad Captain Suleman and Faiz Ullah claimed two wickets each.

Cash prizes and trophies were distributed among players and officials in the post-match ceremony graced by the presence of Chief Guest Mr. Zahid Javed, Mr. Amer Ilyas Butt (CEO PVCA), Mr. Amir Sarfaraz (Honorary Secretary PVCA) among other guests. Faraz Sports side received the winning trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 100,000, whereas the Runner-up, Southern Masters were presented with a trophy and prize of Rs. 50,000.

Yasir Idrees of Faraz Sports Sialkot was named Player of the Final for his impressive all-round contribution. Kamran Hussain was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performances throughout the competition. Adnan Butt was recognized as the Best Batter of the Tournament. Muhammad Captain Suleman claimed the Best Bowler of the Tournament award, while Abdul Qayoom was named Best Wicket-Keeper of the Tournament. The individual award recipients were also bestowed with Rs. 10,000 cash prizes each.

The National Final of the 26th National Seniors Cup 2025-26 between Faraz Sports Sialkot and Southern Masters is about to get underway at Faraz Sports Cricket Ground, Sialkot.
