“Online Training Session on Legal Aid Inaugurated to Strengthen Access to Justice in Punjab”

An online training session on “Legal Aid” was formally inaugurated by Mr. Bilal Ahmed Rana, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, Punjab, along with Mr. Salman Ghani, Secretary of the Public Prosecution Department. The distinguished guests graced the occasion and emphasized the critical importance of legal aid and the need for structured training to enhance its effective delivery.

The session highlighted the role of the Punjab Legal Aid Agency, established under the Punjab Legal Aid Act, 2018, as a landmark institutional reform aimed at ensuring access to justice for indigent individuals across the province. Functioning as an attached department of the Public Prosecution Department, the Agency serves as a key pillar in upholding the constitutional guarantees of fair trial and due process.

Speakers at the event underscored that access to competent legal representation is not merely a procedural requirement but a fundamental right essential to the administration of justice. They stressed that strengthening legal aid mechanisms is vital for promoting equity and fairness within the legal system.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Public Prosecution Department pledged continued support to the Punjab Legal Aid Agency to ensure that its mandate is implemented in both letter and spirit. The department aims to guarantee that every deserving citizen is provided with meaningful and effective access to justice.

In furtherance of the training vision of Worthy Secretary Public Prosecution “Mr Ahmad Aziz Tarar” CPD is conducting “FIVE DAYS REFRESHER COURSE FOR PROSECUTORS”. On 11th April 2025, 3rd training of this series was concluded, Mr. Abdul Rauf (Additional Secretary Prosecution) and Dr. Ahmad Khawar Shahzad (Director Punjab Road Safty Authority) distributed certificates along side Director CPD.

“Plant for Pakistan” drive inauguration at Punjab Civil Secretariate on 21st March 2024. Secretary Public Prosecution Muhammad Usman Anwar along with heads of Attach Departments (Office of PGP, CPD, Inspectorate) inaugurated it. Prosecutor General Syed Farhad Ali Shah sb , Ch Muhammad Jahangir sb and Ather Masood sb and presant at this moment.
