Watch: Shadab Khan's Firm Response To Reporter On Calling Babar Azam 'Former' Captain

Shadab Khan sent a firm reminder to a journalist who called Babar Azam 'former captain' during a PSL press conference.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) brought about a change in the squad for the Afghanistan T20I series, with skipper Babar Azam being rested. The decision prompted the board to assign the captaincy to Shadab Khan for the series. Though it's a change made only for the Afghanistan series, the chatter around Babar being permanently replaced as T20I captain has gained momentum. Shadab Khan, attending a Pakistan Super League (PSL) press conference, even had to remind a journalist that Babar isn't a 'former captain' but has only been rested from the Afghanistan series.
Not just Babar, but also the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi have been rested from the Afghanistan series. During the post-match press conference, Shadab spoke to the media as the skipper of the Islamabad United team.

نہ صرف بابر بلکہ فخر زمان، حارث رؤف، محمد رضوان اور شاہین شاہ آفریدی کو بھی افغانستان سیریز سے آرام دیا گیا ہے۔ میچ کے بعد پریس کانفرنس کے دوران شاداب نے اسلام آباد یونائیٹڈ ٹیم کے کپتان کی حیثیت سے میڈیا سے بات کی۔

پاکستان کے سابق فاسٹ بولر شعیب اختر نے کہا کہ وہ چاہتے ہیں کہ ایشیاء کپ 2023 ٹورنامنٹ سری لنکا میں ہوگا اگر پاکستان میں نہیں۔ اختر جو فی الحال قطر میں لیجنڈز لیگ کرکٹ ماسٹرز میں کھیل رہے ہیں ، یہ بھی چاہتے ہیں کہ ہندوستان اور پاکستان ایشیاء کپ اور ورلڈ کپ کے فائنل میں کھیلیں۔ ایشیاء کپ 2023 کے علاوہ ، پاکستان کو 2025 چیمپئنز ٹرافی کے ہوسٹنگ حقوق بھی حاصل ہیں۔ "میں چاہتا ہوں کہ ایشیا کپ 2023 پاکستان میں منعقد ہوگا اگر پاکستان نہیں تو سری لنکا۔ میں ایشیاء کپ اور ورلڈ کپ میں ہندوستان اور پاکستان کو فائنل کھیلتے ہوئے دیکھنا چاہتا ہوں۔ شعیب اختر نے اے این آئی کو بتایا ، "ورلڈ کرکٹ میں صرف ہندوستان اور پاکستان کے فائنل میں اور کچھ نہیں ہونا چاہئے۔"

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar said that he wants the Asia Cup 2023 tournament to be held in Sri Lanka if not in Pakistan. Akhtar who is currently playing in the Legends League Cricket Masters in Qatar, also wants that India and Pakistan play in the finals of the Asia Cup and World Cup. Apart from Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan also have the hosting rights for the 2025 Champions Trophy. "I want Asia Cup 2023 to be held in Pakistan if not Pakistan then Sri Lanka. I want to see India and pakistan play the final in Asia Cup and World Cup. Nothing else should happen in world cricket just India and Pakistan finals," Shoaib Akhtar told ANI.
Since Pakistan was awarded the hosting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup, there has been speculation that India will withdraw its name from the tournament. In October 2022, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah confirmed that India won't travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup. The new venue will be decided in the second round of the Executive Board meeting of ACC members in the month of March.

Mumbai Indians on Tuesday became the first team to qualify for the Women's Premier League play-offs after thrashing Gujarat Giants by 55 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Riding on captain Harmanpreet Kaur's half-century, Mumbai Indians posted a challenging total of 162/8 in 20 overs. Harmanpreet hit a brilliant 51 off 30 but her knock was cut short by a brilliant diving catch from Harleen Deol. The dismissal happened on the fourth delivery of the 19th over as Harleen produced one of the moments of the match to remove Harmanpreet.
