Top 16 Through To Haikou


The top 16 players in the world rankings all won their qualifying match for the Haikou World Open on Friday and Saturday.



In fact world number 22 Peter Ebdon was the higest ranked player to lose his match at the Barnsley Metrodome as he went down 5-2 to David Morris, whose top break was 102.



Mark Allen, bidding to win the title for the third consecutive year, was pushed all the way by Chris Wakelin before winning 5-4 with a break of 77 in the decider.



World number one Neil Robertson saw off Alexander Ursenbacher 5-0 with a top run of 105, taking his tally of centuries this season to 60.



China's top player Ding Junhui closed with a 135 in a 5-0 defeat of Chris Keogan while Mark Selby came from 2-1 down to beat Lyu Haotian 5-2.



Steve Davis, who only returned from the Australian jungle on Wednesday morning, made it two wins out of two in Barnsley with a 5-2 victory over Hammad Miah, while Jimmy White enjoyed a 5-1 win over Dylan Mitchell.



The 64 winners go through to the final stages on Hainan Island in southern China, from March 10-16.

Asian 6-Red Snooker in Iran

Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association have named a two member team for the second Asian 6-Red snooker championship to be held in Isfahan Iran in the middle of this month.

The team is Pak No 1 Imran Shahzad and No 2 Asif. They will leave on January 11 for Iran.
