The M1905 Bayonet was originally made for the M1903 Springfield, but also fit the M1 Garand.
Originally produced from 1906 to 1922 by Springfield Armory & Rock Island Arsenal, in 1941, it was decided to restart production of the M1905 Bayonet. Then in early 1943, the US Army decided to shorten the M1905 bayonet's blade to 10”, with the new model designated as the M1 Bayonet.
Many M1905 bayonets were cut down to 10”, and reissued…

A downward ejection test from a B-47 Stratojet. This method was employed on a few aircraft, usually to help avoid an obstacle at the rear of the aircraft or above their station. These seats incoporated a system that pulled the pilots' feet toward the seat, to stop them extending out and impacting the aircraft as the seat moved down.
