Pakistan’s ODI squad vs Bangladesh raises serious questions about selection consistency and planning.

Not criticising individuals, but trying to understand the selection logic.

1️⃣ In the recent Pakistan Shaheens vs England Lions series, PCB selected Rohail Nazir and Saad Baig as wicketkeepers. But now in the ODI squad the second wicketkeeper is Ghazi Ghauri. If Shaheens tours are meant to build the national team pipeline, then why ignore those players immediately?

2️⃣ Saad Masood and Maaz Sadaqat performed in T20 cricket, yet they are selected in the ODI squad. If T20 performance is the criterion for ODI selection, then what is the purpose of List-A cricket?

3️⃣ Haseebullah was given a chance in the last ODI series, but dropped in the very next series. How can a player prove himself without getting a proper run?

4️⃣ Haris Rauf was dropped earlier due to lack of control and many former cricketers linked it to not playing red-ball cricket. Now he is back in the squad without playing a single red-ball game.

Pakistan cricket needs clarity, consistency and long-term planning in selections. Otherwise the message to players becomes confusing.

Fans are not asking for perfection — just a clear and consistent plan for the future.

In the reply of England Lions 183/5 in 20 overs Pakistan Shaheens were difficultly able to score 151 all out with 3 balls remaining.

Fans are speculating that Shaheens just faced one of the top teams, that why they are exposed in all expects. Before this series, they were facing "A's" of low ranked teams.

This series may results or acts as a mirror for the coaches of Shaheens, specially for the batting coaches. In both games Shaheens batters seems to be poor technically, lacking skills of strike rotation and game awareness.

PSL Shifts Player Recruitment Model as League Expands

With the addition of two new franchises, the PSL’s Governing Council has greenlit a full player auction system for the 2026 season — a move to ensure a broader and fairer distribution of talent among all eight teams.

Established teams have reportedly been given the option to retain up to 4 players from previous squads, while lower-category or remaining players will be open to bidding at auction. This is expected to create a more dynamic squad-building environment than past draft-only seasons.
