It is sad result for green shirts as they will be seeing no competitive football for the next 4 years even at the continental level.

Cambodia came from behind in the second half to crush Shaheens' hopes of getting their first-ever win World Cup qualifiers.

Pakistan has ended its campaign of in a defeat on aggregate by 4 - 1.

*Match Preview By MLP Coach Education Team*

Teams: Pakistan vs Cambodia
Competition: 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (1st Round)
Leg: 2nd (Aggregate 0 - 2)
Date: June 11, 2019
Time: 09:00 pm (Pakistan Standard Time)
Ground: Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha (also known as Al Ahli Stadium)

1st Leg Shortcomings:

A draw in the first leg would have been a good result for Shaheens but, Cambodia's attacking overload in the last 15 minutes, instigated by Keisuke Honda, exposed the Pakistani defence. Some poor decisions by Pakistan head coach Nogueira, like taking Yaqoob Butt off, also added fuel to the fire of Pakistan's loss.

For Second Leg:

There is no doubt that it will be difficult for Pakistani players to keep their chins up after being tactically outclassed by Cambodians away from home. However, they may get some support in the stadium as there is a huge Pakstani community which resides in Qatar.

Adnan needs to be placed as a Number 10 at the top of a half-diamond midfield so that he gets maximum time with the ball. In what would be a 4-2-3-1 formation, the two wide men need to be Riaz (Right) and Tabish (Left). Qazi needs to be at the centre of the park while one of Hassan and Ali should be the striker while the other one needs to be in the midfield.

The back-four is in worrying state as we indicated earlier but Zesh and Yaqoob are the decent centre back options available. The full-backs need to be educated in how to link up with the wide players and the two CDMs need to maintain ball possession. It might be a tricky task as there are no real proven full backs in the squad. Once again, green shirts are advised to take advantage of set pieces and go strong on counters.

Winning by 2 - 0 is a big ask in 40-degree heat but good luck to the lads!

A dominating Cambodian side was seen in the first 45 minutes of the game, but green shirts have managed to keep a clean sheet so far. Pakistan also got some chances to take the lead but finishing cost them. Shaheens are far from possession-based game and have managed to play counter-attacking football so far. An interesting second half awaits at Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium.

Teams: Cambodia vs Pakistan
Competition: 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (1st Round)
Leg: 1st
Date: June 6, 2019
Time: 04:30 pm (Pakistan Standard Time)
Ground: Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium

Playing an away match in front of 50000 people is never easy in football, but Pakistan need to hold their nerves if they are to win their first-ever World Cup qualifier game.

Team Review:

On paper, it seems that green shirts have their best team in history. With Hassan Bashir, Muhammad Riaz, Muhammad Ali and Adnan Mohammmed up ahead, Pakistan will not have much problems in the attack. After inclusion of Samir Nabi in the midfield, the link-up issues between defence and attack will be minimized. However, the only problematic area for Shaheens is their defence. Zesh Rehman is the only experienced defender in the squad and at his age, he cannot do the work of 4 defenders on his own. Hence, it is predicted that Rahis Nabi will play out of position in this leg and will take one of the defensive positions which may also help the defence as well as goalkeeper Yousuf Butt.

Tactical Review:

Pakistan need to take their chances on set-pieces to score goals as they are more efficient than Cambodians in terms of height and physicality. Under the umbrella of Keisuke Honda, Cambodia will be playing with high confidence and they are pacey, hence, the full backs need to cover up as much space as possible on the flanks otherwise Nogueira XI may have to pay the price.

Scoreline Prediction:

2 - 2

*2019 UEFA Champions League Final*

MLP congratulates Liverpool on winning their 6th ever UEFA's top flight title at Wanda Metropolitano. A penalty in the first 30 seconds or so allowed Liverpool to get an unusual early lead, credits to Salah's spot kick. Tottenham made several attempts throughout the rest of the game to give the fans in whites something to cheer about but it was Origi's well placed shot in the far corner which made the trophy to take the path of Merseyside instead of North London.

*2019 UEFA Europa League Final*

MLP congratulates Chelsea on winning their first European title since 2012 after beating their arch-rivals Arsenal in a one sided contest. Goals by Hazard, Pedro and Giroud did not allow the trophy to go to North London while the latter also got a consolation goal through Iwobi's shot which certainly was not something to cheer about for the reds in Azerbaijan.
