On May 4, 2026, the group draw for the U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships was held in Lublin. The tournament will take place from June 5-13, 2026. The event is hosted by the Polish Deaf Sport Association in cooperation with the Deaf International Basketball Federation and the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf.

INFORMATION

Deaf International Basketball Federation (DIBF World of Deaf Basketball) announces that the draw for the groups of the U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships will take place on May 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

The tournament will be held from June 5 to June 13, 2026, in Lublin, Poland. The event is co-organized by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) and the Polish Deaf Sports Association (PZSN).

THE TECHNICAL MEETING WAS HELD VIA THE ZOOM PLATFORM.

From January to April 2026, a meeting took place between the Board of DIBF World, the Polish Deaf Sports Association, and representatives of deaf sports federations and associations. The discussions focused on the preparations and organization of the U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships.

DIBF WORLD GLOBAL INFORMATION MEETING IN TOKYO

Maciej Jacyna, acting as a delegate of the Polish Deaf Sports Association appointed by Secretary General Jarosław Janiec, took part in the DIBF World Global Information Meeting in Tokyo.
The event was held on 22 November 2025 at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo. It brought together representatives of the entire DIBF World organization, covering four regions: DIBF Europe, DIBF Asia & Pacific, DIBF Americas, and DIBF Africa.
During the meeting, Maciej Jacyna presented a poster promoting the organization of the U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships, which are scheduled to take place in Lublin in 2026.
The meeting took place in a very positive atmosphere, featuring updates from various regions, presentations of future plans, and constructive discussions regarding the further development of deaf basketball worldwide.

MEETING WITH THE DIBF WORLD BOARD IN TOKYO

On 19 and 21 November 2025, a meeting was held with the President and Secretary General of the Deaf International Basketball Federation (DIBF World) regarding the potential organization of the U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships. The tournament is planned to take place in June 2026 in Lublin, Poland.
The discussions were attended by the President of the Polish Deaf Sports Association, Wojciech Stempurski, and the Secretary General of PZSN, Jarosław Janiec, who met with the President and Secretary General of the DIBF World.
The meeting was very positive and marked an important step toward further organizational efforts.

MEETING WITH THE EXPERT TO THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LUBLIN

On 21 May 2025, a meeting was held with the Expert to the Mayor of the City of Lublin regarding the organisation of the U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Polish Deaf Sports Association, Wojciech Stempurski, and the Secretary General, Jarosław Janiec, who met with the Expert to the Mayor of the City of Lublin, Mr Marek Lembrych.
The discussion focused on the possibility of hosting the U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships in June 2026 in Lublin. The initial opinion of the representative of the Mayor’s expert was positive, which represents an important step towards further organisational activities.
