I found out about Michał and his mother a few days ago from a friend musician, I'm a mother myself, my son is only 3 years younger than Michał, and that's probably why it moved me so much.
Michał is also a musician, this year he will defend his master's degree in jazz piano. Our roads have intersected because of my workplace, where Michał will be playing.
Now a story that turned his young life upside down.
Michał's mother exactly one year ago in the Women's Day underwent a stroke - a cracked brain aneurysm - subarachnoid haemorrhage, the so-called SAH, Michał has been doing titanic work and fighting for his mother every day with his dad and sister.
Treatment, rehabilitation, medicines, first-aid items such as creams, diapers, the need to purchase specialized equipment (strollers, special bed, anti-bedsore mattress, etc.) ... Unfortunately, you have to pay for everything because the queues for rehabilitation centers are around 2 years ... Mrs. Małgosia is completely immobilized, she is not able to stand up herself, do nothing, she moves only with the right side, the left one is paralyzed. Requires constant care, 24 hours a day. The costs of private rehabilitation amount to tens of thousands of zlotys a month. The family also had to buy a car with a pneumatic lift for transport for rehabilitation, because the cost of a taxi 8 km from Strzeszyn to Wichrowe Wzgórze by car is about 160 PLN one way ...
In addition, Michał's grandfather, his father's father died recently, and his grandmother suffers from Alzheimer's ... Michał's mother taught English philology at the Medical University and the School of Banking - doctors, physiotherapists, nurses and rescuers.
I have no idea how Michał manages to study all of this, where he takes the strength for 24-hour care over his mother, where he takes the strength and time to work and earn money for his mother's treatment and how he maintains the strength of the spirit. I do not know, but I know that we can help him, that he can get support, which will allow him and his family to relax for a short while, and mother will give her a chance to improve her health through additional rehabilitation, medicines and care.
Michał is 23 years old, it's not the time for such problems, he has his plans and dreams that have now come down to the second and third plan. She repeats all the time that mom is the most important now. He is a brave young man, I bow and hold my fingers crossed! Michał is a modest boy for that, he was very assertive when asked if he could help me, he said he would not ask for help.
