Bob Keller pushes back on one of the most commonly repeated beginner tips: it doesn't matter how you stand or hold your cue, just do it the same way every time and you'll be okay.
He calls it terrible advice. And he's right. Consistently repeating poor mechanics doesn't lead to improvement, it locks in bad habits at a low ceiling. Fundamentals matter. How you stand affects your alignment. How you hold the cue affects your stroke. Doing something consistently wrong just means you get consistently mediocre. Get the fundamentals right first, then make them consistent.
