Massage can be complicated
A complex dance of the hands on your face may seem too difficult to remember and recreate.
Pity, because there is nothing like a brief daily manual stimulation to give us a more beautiful, toned skin.
If you are a rare guest at a beauty parlour
..then apart from the pleasure a massage can give you will change the appearance of your face very, very little. During long breaks in-between massage the collagen production drops, so does blood supply to the face tissues, capillary walls get rigid and break. Sluggish lymph forms bags and pockets wherever it pleases.
And yet it wouldn’t be possible to use the services of a massage therapist/beautician daily, so we are left with... the magic our own hands can perform. You can stimulate deep layers of the skin, increase blood and nutrient flow and drain the lymph for a true and lasting facelift.
Simple and effective... from times immemorial
Today I would like to share with you a super simple technique of facial stimulation which really gives you results. I am talking about pinching.
It has been used in Ayurveda in India, by Egyptian beauties and by your great-grandmother, to retain a youthful glow and skin density.
How to pinch
You can do it when your face is clean and bare, but then be careful not to pinch too hard. I prefer to use a rich cream or massage oil to give the skin nutrition without the risk of leaving marks on delicate skin.
Start at the chin, continue along the jawline, climb up along the ears, under the eyes, descend along the nose and nasolabial folds. After three rounds make smaller circles on the cheeks.
Then move onto the forehead. Start by grabbing the base of the brows between the thumb and index, squeeze for ten seconds and then move a bit further towards the temples, then still further. Next pinch more quickly below your hairline climbing up. Repeat three times, then make smaller circles.

You are ready. Wait for ten minutes for the redness to calm down and look into the mirror. See the difference?
Repeat each morning and/or evening or alternate between other massage techniques you are familiar with.

HORMONAL SELF MASSAGE - WHY SHOULD I?
Self-massage for beauty
As some of you know, I am on a mission to teach you a variety of self-massage techniques to give our complexions a super-boost, naturally. Each technique has something different to offer but they have two things in common: they act in depth and they act for 5-10 minutes daily, not once a month, which makes all the difference!
They all stimulate the skin proper i.e. the deep layers where your collagen production takes place. They fight against the surreptitious gravity, lifting the sub-dermal fatty tissue and pampering our facial muscles too. Your blood and lymph circulate better to nourish and detox. The high quality base and essential oils get pressed into the skin to smooth and heal.
Self-massage for hormonal balance
Hormonal self-massage has all the aesthetic, lifting properties, but we expect so much more from it: it is meant to support female hormonal health, which rests on a delicate balance between the pituitary, thyroid and ovaries’ functions, with some help from the adrenals.
A holiday from trouble
When we coax the Great Three to function optimally, your PMS and your period are bearable (even if still not your favourite days), while thyroid issues ranging from depressive sluggishness to racing heart and mouth dryness calm down. Dysfunctions of the ovaries get attenuated. We use acupressure together with reflex zone stimulation, tapping and rubbing to achieve that.
Helping the doctor
If you have hormonal imbalances, like so many of us, like myself, you need to consult a wise doctor who will treat you as a whole. Perhaps you will still need to pop a pill, yet I do everything to assist nature in nature’s way: with hormonal yoga, diet and self-massage.
It does wonders for me (I am off thyroid meds, under supervision) and I receive many encouraging signals from my students, so I am confident you can benefit too.
Thyroid balance - tapping
Check where your thyroid is located first:)
Bend the four fingers of your right hand slightly and tap vertically, vigorously the side of your Adam’s apple, changing the rhythm from fast to slow for 30 seconds, then change sides. Repeat the tapping between the eyebrows right above the nose.
Then stroke the skin right in front and behind the earlobes with your middle and index fingers, 30-60 seconds.
Repeat three times a day or whenever fancy takes you.
Sing. Thyroid adores musical vibrations. Mantras or radio hits - whatever makes you (and miss T.) happy.
