Inversion Workshop: Headstand & Forearm Balance
This three-hour workshop is an invitation to explore inversions through a methodical, intelligent, and enjoyable approach.
We will focus on different variations of headstand (Śīrṣāsana) and forearm balance (Pincha Mayurasana), beginning with movement preparation, neurosensory and motor-sensory conditioning, and strength-building drills designed to awaken the body, improve coordination, and prepare you for inversions safely. From there, we will gradually progress into the practice of headstand and forearm balance, exploring alignment, technique, and individual variations. The workshop concludes with a deeply restorative relaxation, allowing the body and nervous system to fully integrate the practice.
Beyond the physical benefits, inversions offer a unique opportunity to cultivate presence. When the body is upside down, the mind naturally becomes attentive. Balance can only be found in the present moment.
Throughout the workshop you will:
• Develop the strength, mobility, and body awareness required for a safe inversion practice.
• Learn step-by-step techniques for headstand and forearm balance.
• Explore intelligent drills and conditioning exercises that you can continue practicing at home.
• Improve proprioception, coordination, and neuromuscular control.
• Transform fear and hesitation into curiosity, confidence, and joy.
• Cultivate moment-to-moment awareness and a deeply embodied sense of presence.
• Build an embodied understanding of balance, allowing you to practice with greater ease and confidence.
This workshop is suitable for practitioners who are curious about inversions as well as those looking to refine their technique.
*Different variations and progressions will be offered, allowing everyone to practice safely at their own level.
Come prepared to play, and discover a new perspective on balance, both on and off the mat.
