July was a great month for fishing and the beginning of August as well. Here are some of the happy anglers.

The Makaira Mayhem strikes again! 2-2, 22 lbs. Mahi and released this beautiful 80+lbs. White Marlin! Not bad for a 4 hour trip at 3 to 6 miles in front of San Juan Bay Harbour near the "c" fish aggregate device. For charter information go to www.prtarponconnection.com.

It's official, welcome the Makaira Mayhem a 2015 Sea Hunt BX 24 BR, to the Puerto Rico Tarpon Connection family. This super bay boat will allow us to go inshore and offshore; do live baiting, fly fishing, high speed jigging and much more! Here are some pictures of the offshore activities in the waters just offshore of San Juan Harbour, 25 minutes from the dock!

Afternoon Trip
Cody & Molly were heading on a cruise and decided to come to San Juan early and do some fishing. The baits and the weather had been challenging, so I went early and caught bait. We went out with a livewell full of greenies and three hours from the high tide. Five minutes into the first drift, boom, first fish, Molly struck first with a very respectable Crevalle jack, then a tarpon and finally Cody got on the board with his own tarpon! We ended up 5 out of 10, 4 tarpon and 1 crevalle jack! Not a bad idea starting a Royal Caribbean International cruise with a great day of fishing!

February was a great month, weather was good and good catches were made. March started stormy but it got good today. Ryan and Abbie from south Carolina went 1 out of 3 on Tarpon. I am looking forward to the rest of the season to come!

Morning Charter
Shane Hill & Co. From North Carolina
I've always said that a good charter is like fishing with a new "old" fishing buddy every day. This morning it felt that way, although it was difficult to catch bait with the cast net, it gave way to a sabiki bait catching bonding experience. From there we went out on the open Bay and quickly hooked our first jack crevalle and then a tarpon bite but did not stay, then another jack. Few more bites later and getting low on bait, went and got more, came back to the bay and the bite tapered. We headed back to the river to find our coveted tarpon, instead we saw a nice snook in the shallows and capitalized, all we needed was the tarpon for the PR Grand Slam, but it was not meant to be; got a couple more bites but no tarpon. We did see a cayman basking in the sun, lots of birds and a bunch of iguanas. Awsome Fishing day with my new Fishing buddies, until next time, we will get that elusive p**n'!
