💛 About Us
My name is Thora Andreesen, and I run Herdade do Sol, a small rescue farm located near Nazaré, Portugal.
We are a tiny family-run project—just myself and my two children—caring for rescued horses and donkeys, many of them elderly, abandoned, or in need of long-term care.
At Herdade do Sol, we give these animals something they truly deserve:
Safety
Peace
Daily care and medical attention
A dignified, loving home for the rest of their lives
Some of our animals also bring joy and comfort to visitors, including children and elderly people who come to spend time with them.
🐴 Why We Need Help
Running a rescue farm is a daily challenge. We do everything we can ourselves, but the costs are constant and rising:
Hay and animal feed
Veterinary care and medication
Hoof trimming and dental care
Basic maintenance of the land and shelters
Right now, we are struggling to keep up with these essential needs.
