Just a couple more pics of our Zipwire adventure in Alcoutim. Lovely lunch at BH Restaurant followed by a cool river dip and refreshments at the Fluvial to round of a lovely day with lovely people

Our social outing this month was a wonderful day trip to Alcoutim. 9 intrepid time-travellers took the short ferry trip over to Spain and journeyed up the hill on the other side to then take a zip wire run back to Portugal. The exhilarating ride was over in a flash but after taking account of the international time difference the time-travellers arrived in Portugal about 59 minutes before they left Spain.
With the excitement over, a total of 14 of us then settled down to an enjoyable and friendly lunch at the local BH restaurante.
Then as the heat built up in the afternoon we took the opportunity to cool down with a swim in the local river beach.
The superb outing was organised by our social supremo Suzanne, so a huge thank you is due to her for arranging such a fun day out. 👏🙏🌞

The work continued at VBC yesterday morning, bringing a huge amount of sand in barrows onto the green, about 1.5 - 2 tons I believe. It was then spread and brushed. Another coat of paint was applied to the wood surround of the green. The weather was kind to us with a good breeze, but it was still hot and tiring work.
Once again a huge thank-you to all of the wonderful volunteers who turned up to help.
Work continues on Monday morning with quite a few painting jobs and any help would be very welcome.

This Monday 1st June maintenance work began on our green. The morning was very warm but our wonderful volunteers arrived to help groundsman Nick and greenkeeper Paul. A big thankyou to all for your hard work in that extreme heat.
Maintenance will continue for a fortnight and volunteers would be very welcome again this Friday 5th morning

Summer league this week saw our two teams playing against each other on the rink in Alvor. The win and bragging rights go to the Vikings who won by 42 shots to 32 and take 8 of the 10 points available. Both teams are now mid-table and look forward to fighting their way up the league.

A busy season of visiting clubs drew to a close yesterday when People's Park Bowls Club returned to the Valverde green. It was certainly a case of welcoming back (not so) old friends and the match was played in great humour and camaraderie. The final score was less important than the fact that People’s Park had their highest shot count of their tour so far. 🙂 Enjoy the rest of your holiday and safe journey home to Grimsby and Sunderland.

As the tour season has finished, a big thank you is due to all the Valverde players who came out to support and enjoy the events and to all those involved in coordinating and organising the matches or who helped out each day.
