Almost 600 young sailors from 44 nations, hundreds of Optimist sails filling Lake Garda and a perfect southerly breeze building up to 16 knots.
Three races for all fleets, one incredible international sailing scene and the unmistakable energy of hundreds of young sailors sharing the same racecourse.
One lake. 44 nations. Almost 600 Optimists.
And this was only Day 1.

The Cascais International J/70 Class Association Summer Cup brought together 17 teams from seven countries for three days of close racing on one of sailing’s most demanding racecourses.
After nine races, North-powered teams swept the podium:

🥉 Aretê, Bruno Bethlem
With the 2026 J/70 World Championship returning to Cascais this September, the Summer Cup offered an early look at the level of competition to come.
“We’ve had some very interesting conditions, closely fought races and some of the best crews in the world competing together,” said Andrade. “It has been excellent preparation for the World Championship.”
Congratulations to all three teams on a strong week in Cascais. Next stop, Worlds.

SailCascais is excited to announce that we will be dealers for the Optimist Giullietti spars. We are looking forward to work with Franco and his team offering top quality performance spars for the young sailors in the Opti class. We are super stoked to announce that SailCascais has become a Faccenda dealer. The dealership will manly focus in the Optimist market where Faccenda Optimists have a very successful footprint with several world titles, the last one just last Saturday in Morocco where Manuel Bragança from Brazil climbed to the top spot in the podium sailing on a Faccenda as well Margaux Nguyen-Mihn from Hong Kong runner up in the Women’s division. This partnership is a bold move from SailCascais to increase their involvement in the Opti Class and help in the development of sailing in younger generations.
