π‘οΈπ₯ SAFE COMBAT Implementation Meeting in GijΓ³n, Spain πͺπΈ
The SAFE COMBAT consortium gathered in GijΓ³n, Spain, on 20β21 May 2026 for an important implementation meeting focused on the next major steps of the project.
During these two productive days, partners finalised the last details of the upcoming SAFE COMBAT online course (MOOC) π»π, which will provide practical safeguarding education for combat sports and martial arts organisations across Europe.
The consortium also advanced the final elements of the SAFE COMBAT club certification system π
, designed to support clubs in implementing concrete safeguarding standards and safer sport practices.
These discussions marked another important milestone in transforming safeguarding principles into practical tools and long-term impact for the combat sport community π€.

The SAFE COMBAT consortium has developed a practical Safeguarding Poster to support clubs and organisations in promoting safer environments in Combat Sports and Martial Arts.
This visual tool translates key safeguarding principles into clear, visible and everyday practices, helping clubs strengthen a culture of safety, respect and athlete wellbeing.
π The poster is now available in 7 different languages, making it accessible across Europe.

π₯π‘οΈ As Europeβs top judoka step on the tatami in Tbilisi, the European Judo Union is also leading change off the mat through the SAFE COMBAT project.
Funded by Erasmus+, SAFE COMBAT aims to prevent violence, abuse and discrimination in combat sports and martial arts, creating safer environments for athletes at all levels.

π₯π‘οΈ SAFE COMBAT at the Judo Austria Grand Prix
SAFE COMBAT was proudly represented at the Judo Austria Grand Prix, held from 6β8 March in Linz π¦πΉ.
π An information stand allowed athletes, coaches, officials and visitors to discover the SAFE COMBAT initiative and learn more about safeguarding in combat sports.
π With 479 judoka from 59 countries, the event provided a great opportunity to raise awareness about athlete protection within the international judo community.
π A big thank you to the European Judo Union for supporting the promotion of safer sport environments.
