OCTOBER AT BARAZA 🌀

Today, October 5th, is a day of celebration here in Portugal and somehow, it feels like the right moment to pause and welcome the new season.

A softer start to autumn in our sunny Lisboa and it feels good!

This month, we’re happy to be hosting and launching our very first 200H Teacher Training, in collaboration with our fabulous teacher Marina De Lima.
There’s still time to join! DM us for info.

We’re also bringing back our gatherings with the community.

On October 25, we escape for a special morning between ocean and forest, with Ann Schreppers & Philippe Pestana, at the beautiful Kalā. Amoment to slow down, feel and connect.

On October 30, our monthly ritual returns with Kirtan Night and the best crew Rebecca Hajek , Yoga Teacher - Paula , Greg With Peace and Baltazar Molina.

And we close the month with a beautiful and thoughtful workshop with Ann Schreppers, exploring the Heart.

Every day, we open the doors, prepare the room, make the space, and get ready to welcome whoever walks in, with the same care, with the same love.

Our members. New faces. Drop-ins. Travellers passing through Lisbon. Our teachers. Our community.

It’s a simple ritual. And we love it.
It’s our way to share, to care, to connect.

Because there is something freeing about having a ritual.
It gives us the space to create, to connect, and to see what the day brings.

Baraza is a meeting place. A place to practise, but also to gather, share, learn and connect.

From our daily classes to talks, gatherings, escapes and now trainings, we keep finding new ways to explore what yoga can be — and to grow the space and the community around it.

Sometimes, all we need is a little space to pause.

For this new Baraza Escape, we’re taking our practice to KALA, a new intimate space close to the ocean in Caparica — for a half-day to slow down, reconnect and simply be.

A small bubble away from the everyday.

Join us for a full 90-minute practice led by Ann, bringing together meditation and dynamic practice, followed by a deep Sound Healing guided by your favorite healer, Philippe.

Come together in community to gather, to create, to pause and reconnect.

Taking place around the Full Moon, a natural moment in the cycle to pause and reflect — but above all, this is simply an invitation to step away for a few hours and create some space for yourself.

THE BARAZA TEACHER TRAINING PATH CONTINUES 🌀

Following our first 200HR TTC, we’re continuing to build a space for learning, practice and exploration at Baraza Yoga Lisbon.

Our next training is a 25-hour Pranayama & Meditation Training in collaboration with our dearest Baraza teacher, Rebecca Hajeck.

A deep dive into the practices of breath and meditation — exploring both their traditional roots and their practical application, with tools to bring these practices into your teaching, your personal practice and your everyday life.

This training is for teachers, but also for curious yogis, practitioners and anyone wanting to explore meditation and conscious breathing more deeply — whether you are looking to enrich your practice or simply bring these tools into your daily life.

Designed to fit alongside a working schedule, the training takes place over 5 days, from Wednesday 31 March to Sunday 4 April, with an intensive yet accessible format that allows you to immerse yourself without stepping away from your professional life.

BARAZA TALKS ARE BACK 🤍

Because we believe that sharing, thinking, understanding and exploring together can open new perspectives and deepen our awareness, we’re happy to bring the Baraza Talks back to the studio.

For the next three months, we’re honoured to welcome Dr. Neil Theise for a special three-part series.

Physician, scientist, Professor of Pathology at NYU and author of Notes on Complexity, Neil Theise explores the connections between complexity, the human body, consciousness and our experience of being alive.

Across these three evenings, he will share his scientific knowledge, ideas and perspective as we explore questions around the body, connection and consciousness — where science meets philosophy and experience.

What if our body is more than we think?

On September 20, join us for a 90-minute Gong Bath with Philippe — an invitation to slow down, turn inward and simply receive.

Through the gong’s vibrations and resonance, we’ll create space for deep rest, stillness, and a different kind of listening.

As the sounds unfold around you, allow the body to soften, the mind to settle, and see what emerges when there is nothing you need to do.

Nexr Friday, on September 18, we come together again for an evening of Kirtan, led by Rebecca Hajek Yoga Teacher - Paula Greg With Peace.

A practice of chanting, music and shared presence, Kirtan is an invitation to gather, lend your voice to the room, and experience the power of singing together.

Come with an open mind, bring your voice, and let yourself be part of the experience.

This gathering is donation-based, with all proceeds supporting a local cause. This month, donations will go to the Bombeiros Portugueses. Please bring your contribution in cash.

YOGA FOUNDATIONS — ASANA 101 🧘‍♀️with Erica Bracken / Sat 19.09

If you’ve ever wondered whether your feet are in the right place in Warrior II, how to approach Triangle, or how to feel more confident moving through a Sun Salutation, this workshop is for you.

Open to anyone wanting to better understand the foundations of asana, whether you’re newer to yoga or simply want to revisit the basics with fresh eyes.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

In regular yoga classes, we don’t always have the time to pause and explore the details of the physical practice — alignment, sensation, transitions, and how a pose can be adapted to work with your body.

So for this two-hour workshop, we’re slowing things down.

Guided by BARAZA teacher Erica Bracken, we’ll workshop key yoga postures and familiar transitions in more depth, exploring how to set them up safely and effectively, what to feel for, and different ways to adapt the shapes to suit you.

We’ll finish with a short, accessible flow, giving you a chance to put everything we’ve explored into practice through movement + breath.

The intention is simple: to leave you feeling more confident, comfortable and connected in your physical yoga practice — with plenty of little aha moments to take back to your mat ✨
