International 420 Class Association The international two-person dinghy for young sailors - International 420 Class Association There are over 56,000 420 dinghies worldwide.

The 420 is an established worldwide performance two-person trapeze and spinnaker racing dinghy. This popular dinghy is sailed at school, club, open, national and international levels. There are many second hand boats available, active clubs and excellent tuition for all levels. The 420 is the world's top youth training boat.

Ahead of the 2026 Youth Sailing World Championships, the International 420 Class Association is organising a five-day Pre-Youth Worlds Training Camp in Vilamoura, Portugal!

📅 5–9 December 2026
📍 Vilamoura Sailing, Portugal
⛵ Head Coach: Nikos Drougkas (GRE)

Five days of technical and tactical training, boat tuning, on-water exercises and race preparation at the championship venue!

Participation is FREE OF CHARGE and open exclusively to 420 teams competing at the 2026 Youth Sailing World Championships.

Registration deadline: 4 December 2026.

🇿🇦 South Africa has crowned its 2026 420 National Champions!

Congratulations to **Dale and James Rae**, who claimed the national title after a weekend of close racing near Cape Town!

A few highlights from this year's championship:

⛵ Nearly 40% of the 16-boat fleet consisted of mixed-gender crews.

🏆 The winning boat secured its FIFTH national championship title, with four different teams having now sailed it to victory!

🤝 Mixed-gender crews have won the last THREE consecutive South African 420 National Championships.

Congratulations also to the Henshilwood brothers for securing the Youth National Title and to Faith Lyons and Hayley Rae for winning the Ladies category!

A great weekend showcasing the competitive spirit and continued development of the 420 Class in South Africa.

The 420 fleet is racing for Asian Games medals in Japan! 🇯🇵⛵

Six mixed crews are competing in the Youth Mixed Dinghy event at Aichi–Nagoya 2026. After three races, hosts Misaki Tsunomori and Riho Sanematsu lead with two race wins and five points.

Thailand’s Pitipoom Jaroenpon and Worrakan Saksriklom sit second on nine points, just one ahead of Malaysia’s Danyal Marczqui Rahmat Haron Muzaffar and Nur Aina Norhazram. There’s plenty of racing still to come.

🇵🇹 **21 boats on the start line in Portimão — and a Portuguese 420 fleet that keeps growing.**

The 2026 Portuguese National Championships brought together sailors and coaches from across the country for four days of racing, with **Bernardo Gomes and Pedro Gonzalez** taking the overall win.

But beyond the results, the biggest takeaway is the progress being made in Portugal.

More teams, more young sailors and a growing fleet are the result of the consistent work being put in by coaches, clubs and sailors throughout the season.

Great to see that effort translating into numbers on the start line. 👏

Congratulations to everyone involved in this year’s Nationals.

🇬🇧 British Champions crowned in Brixham 🏆

After 10 races and a seriously demanding week on the waters of Torbay, Neil Marsden & David Bromilow came out on top at the 2026 British 420 National Championships.

51 boats, big breeze, tight racing and plenty of action right across the fleet.

420 Class Vice President Dimitris Dimou appointed as a Lead Race Official for LA28 🇺🇸

World Sailing has confirmed the Lead Race Official appointments for the LA28 Olympic Sailing Competition, taking place from 14–30 July 2028 across Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles.

Dimitris Dimou (GRE), Vice President of the International 420 Class Association, has been appointed Chair of the Technical Committee for the Port of Los Angeles venue.

In this role, Dimitris will lead a committee of International Measurers, with responsibility for ensuring that every boat competing at the venue complies with its Class-specific rules.

Dimitris is also the current Chair of World Sailing’s Equipment Rules Sub-Committee and previously served as Chair of the Technical Committee at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
