For the duration of a match, every loose ball matters and nobody is giving the opposition an easy centimetre.
Then the whistle goes, the intensity drops, and the same players can be chatting beside the court a few minutes later.
That ability to compete properly and still enjoy the company of the people you have just played against is one of the nicest parts of a netball tournament.

Last year, nobody quite knew what the first Portugal Netball Festival would feel like until the matches began.
This time, we have something to build on. We know the sound of a busy tournament day, the conversations happening around the courts and the atmosphere created when teams embrace both the competitive and social sides of the weekend.
The second edition arrives on 7–8 November, and we are looking forward to seeing how it develops from here.

Playing familiar opposition means knowing some of the questions before the match begins. International tournaments take away that advantage.
Different teams bring different habits, tempos and ways of solving the same problems on court, which means players have to observe and adjust rather than simply rely on what they already know.
That variety is one of the things we want the Portugal Netball Festival to keep bringing to Lisbon.

November no longer feels quite so far away. Teams are making plans, squads are taking shape and, behind the scenes, preparations for the second Portugal Netball Festival are gathering pace.

The Portugal Netball Festival returns on 7–8 November 2026, building on a first edition that brought adult women’s teams together for a lively and closely contested weekend.

There is still time before the first centre pass of the 2026 Portugal Netball Festival, but the weekend is beginning to feel more real.
Teams are discussing their calendars, plans are moving forward, and the second edition is gradually taking shape. Whether your club joined us last year or has only recently discovered the event, 7–8 November is a date to start planning for.

The Portugal Netball Festival is organised to give teams a substantial competitive experience within a manageable weekend.
Matches take place across two days, with each squad expected to play five or six times. This creates a full schedule without losing the social side of the event, allowing teams to compete, regroup and enjoy being together away from their usual environment.

One of the pleasures of returning to a tournament is recognising people from the year before.
The player you marked for an entire match, the umpire whose voice you remember immediately, or the team you ended up chatting to between fixtures may all be back, bringing a sense of familiarity to a weekend that still offers something new.
We would love to see many of last year’s teams return to Lisbon in November, alongside clubs joining us for the first time.

The Portugal Netball Festival gives clubs from across Europe the opportunity to meet opponents outside their usual competitions and spend two full days playing netball in Lisbon.
Each team is expected to play five or six matches over the weekend, creating enough court time to adapt, improve and experience different styles of play.

The opening minutes of a tournament match often have a particular energy. Players are working out the opposition, passes are slightly more cautious, and both teams are trying to understand how the game is going to unfold.
Then someone makes the first interception, a shooting combination settles in or a quick centre pass changes the tempo. Suddenly, the match has found its rhythm.
These are the small shifts we are looking forward to seeing again in November.
