Pristine conditions, two bigeyes hooked up and the entire school under the boat! Can’t ask for more!
Cool footage from the other day with the Lindholm family! Wish we had the waterproof case to stick the camera under the water! !

Another great day on the water yesterday with the Fehlberg father and son duo going 3-3 on bigeye tuna (240-130 pounds class fish).

The day could not have started better. On the way to the hot spot we spotted a half-dozen birds going around and around. Tried to put some lures out to check and boom… FISH ON the shotgun! We were still determined to go south but saw lots of birds going north. Changed direction and on the way a big school of bigeyes came up and we hooked a double! Nice fish and released them both to fight another day.

Many thanks for coming fishing again with us guys! What a pleasure! See you next time for marlin 💪

Bigeye tuna ON!

Photos from Sport Fishing Azores - Alabote's post 02/07/2026

youngsters Knut and Gosta joined the bigeye tuna party and caught their first bigeye tuna ever!

Same story as the other days with the fish moving a lot from one day to the other. Found them again after a bit of search but they were so fast feeding at the surface that was actually annoying. There must have been at least 3 different schools feeding in the area and every time we were about to get to the feed they were going down. We went around and around and finally hooked up these two smaller fish. Perfect size to introduce Knut and Gostas to tuna fishing!
Great job guys and welcome to the tuna club!!!

First day with the Lindholm family and 6 for 9 on bigeye tunas (130 to 170 pounds class fish).

Arrived at the same place as the day before and everything had vanished. Had to look again for them and after a bit we picked up again our best friends, the shearwaters! In between them we pulled the hook on the first fish and then big school came up and we hooked with everything we had on the water including 5 rods and the 2 teasers! SO GOOD! Managed to released them all and still had time to have another 3 strikes releasing another one and pulling the hooks on the others. The fish is moving constantly but once you find them is crazy damn good fishing!

BIGEYE TUNA FEAST!
Beautiful weather and another great day with the Hardee family at the bigeye tuna paradise going 4-5 on bigeye tunas (160 pounders).

The fish continues on the move and everyday is a new challenge to find them again but the birds have been our best friends (as always)!

We started pulling the hook on a fish after a short run and then hooked up on a triple releasing them all. For our standards we have been fishing far from harbour which reduces the fishing time but we still had time to hook up and release another one while watching two bigeye tuna schools having a feast feeding on boarfish and mackerel!

Perfect day out! We have more footage to post but the days have been so long that not much time left to edit any footage. But we have some cool stuff to post in the next days!

Let’s goooo!

Happy Eric with one of the two bigeyes hooked up on a double before yesterday (215 pounds).

As we only fished a half-day, we only had time to fish close to the shore. Despite having bait all over the place on the drop off, the birds and tuna activity has been slower around here compared to the banks offshore. The fish is here but just harder to located. Anyway, we got a nice surprise with a double hook up pulling the hook on one after a short fight and catching this 215 pounder just before heading home for lunch!

What a way to ended up the trip with John, Mike and Devin going 2 on 5 on giant bigeyes over the last two days of fishing.

Beautiful weather with the activity slowing down compared to the previous days but we knew the fish was there. We kept pounding the area waiting for the right opportunity and in both days we manage to capitalize at the right time. In one day we had 3 bites at the same time losing 2 and catching Mike a nice 200 pounds ish bigeye!
The best was reserved for the final day where we had the right opportunity to cast to a giant bigeye tuna feed. The fish came up right by the boat and Devin got tight right away as well as John on the very next cast! We knew they were all big fish but there was definitely some giants in the mix. We could never stop John’s fish that took almost all the line on his Stella before breaking off but after and incredible 1h45 fight we got the other to the gaff! What a BEAST! 78x56 inches estimated at 300+ pounds!

What a pleasure to have these guys on board fishing with jigging and spinning gear. So far this year the bigeyes are still not showing at the surface as they used to but with persistence we always get the right opportunities.
Congratulations again guys on such a magnificent bigeye. See you guys next year!

Stay tuned as we will organise more pictures from the trip to post it in the next few days 💪

Crazy last two days with John, Mike and Devin going on 7 from 13 (?!) on bigeye tuna (100 to 180 pounds).

Great to see that the bigeyes keep coming to surface to feed very aggressively on mackerel! On the first day we caught the smaller fishes of the trip so far. We started with a surprise triple header and then a quadruple header after seeing all the birds packed up!
Today we had the pleasure to witness some GREAT bigeye tuna feeds at the surface which ended up in catching some bigger fish on jigging and popping rods. Had a bunch of fish pulling the hooks on the stick baits but damn, those bites were AMAZING!
The teasers have been completely destroyed as well. At some point we were trolling only teasers and as soon as the bigeyes show up there, the guys put stick bait close to it and BOOM, FISH ON! Just like bait&switch for marlin. INCREDIBLE, can’t wait for more!
