WESTERN STATES 2027 & 2028

WHAT'S CHANGED ?

The new Western States qualifying race lists are out - and there are some interesting changes for the next two lotteries.

🆕 New qualifying races have been added across Europe, North America, Asia and beyond.
🇮🇹 🇸🇪 🇬🇧 🇵🇹 🇨🇳 🇯🇵 …and several other countries now have new options for runners targeting Western States.

❌ But there are also races that qualified for the 2026 lottery that do not appear on the 2027 list.

His longest race was 130 km.
So he signed up for 500 km and 40,000m+.

Would you? 👀

After around 150 km, Alessandro spent 20 km without water under the midday sun.

During the first 36 hours, he slept just 7 minutes.

His backpack reached 12 kg.
And somehow, he kept moving.

We spoke to Alessandro after his incredible Ticino 500 experience about what it really takes to manage 500 km of trail running and 40,000m+ of elevation - from hydration and food to sleep deprivation, mental strength and the decisions you have to make when you're completely exhausted.
