(234)

Our food and wine walking tours in Porto feel less like tours and more like taking a walk with a local friend who knows a lot about the history of Porto and strives for every guest to fall in love with the city. Over the past 8 years, we came out as the top pick for Porto Food Tours on Lonely Planet, The Guardian and Parts Unknown. And because we believe deeply in tourism having a positive impact on our community, a portion of the tour ticket price is donated to a local charity that helps the ones in need. On one of Porto’s busiest streets, catching a breeze, sharing a private tasting of aged Port w**es with strangers who are starting to feel like friends. This is what Porto feels like.

As our local writer Agustina Bessa-Luís once said, “Porto is not a place, it's a feeling.”

We believe this moment is part of the feeling she was talking about. Join us and taste the real Porto at tasteporto.com

Porto with kids? Forget the usual list of children’s attractions. We asked a slightly more qualified source: a Portuguese dad.

Think canned fish is the humble option? Think again. 🐟

In Portugal, a tin can hold a whole lot more than sardines. Complex flavours, surprising textures, and fish you probably didn’t expect to find in a can.

Ready to enter the canned fish rabbit hole? 😉

October in Porto means crisp walks, autumn light, roasted chestnuts, caldo verde and plenty of excuses to eat.

The crowds are lighter, the city feels cosier, and there’s no better time to slow down and taste Porto.

Come hungry. We’ll take care of the rest.

We are incredibly proud to share that Taste Porto has been awarded Best Gastronomy Heritage Tour Operator at the Global Culinary Travel Awards 2026.

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is the feedback from the international judging panel:

“Taste Porto feels less like a food tour company and more like a heritage interpretation organization.”

The judges recognised what has always been at the heart of our mission: to reveal the real Porto, beyond the clichés. A city understood through its historic taverns, family-run businesses, forgotten traditions, immigrant influences, wartime stories, regional flavours, and, above all, the people who continue to preserve its culinary identity.

For the past 13 years, we have chosen to walk the city’s lesser-known paths, champion independent local businesses, reject multinational chains, and embrace a model of tourism that protects Porto’s authenticity rather than contributing to its homogenisation.

This award belongs to our incredible local partners, our passionate guides, and every guest who has walked the streets of Porto with us and shared a table along the way.

Now, it’s your turn to experience the award-winning food story of Porto.

🍷 Join us at tasteporto.com and discover the city through the flavours, stories, and people that make it truly unforgettable.

To not include a Port w**e tasting on a tour called "Vintage" would be "missing the mark".

The Vintage & Port W**e Food Tour is our "old school tour". It focuses on food and places that went out of fashion for reasons we cannot tell you about because it's part of the tour; and that have now come back into our lives for other reasons we also cannot tell you about because it's also part of the tour. :)

This is a tour of memory, about habits of old and it's very close to our guides' hearts. The first and second stops? They're iconic and we've been going there since we were kids, with our parents. The smells, the people, the products... they’re all from a cherished past and we love that.

The last tasting location is very special as we host a mini Port w**e masterclass in a beautiful private room. For many people, this is the tour’s highlight.

Think Gustave Eiffel designed Porto’s Dom Luís I Bridge? Think again. 👀

It’s one of Porto’s most repeated myths — but the bridge was actually designed by Théophile Seyrig, Eiffel’s former business partner.

The two worked together on the Maria Pia Bridge, before eventually going their separate ways. When the Dom Luís I Bridge was commissioned, both submitted designs… and Seyrig won.

Why does everyone remember Eiffel? Well, having a tower in Paris probably helps. 😉
