🚣‍♀️ Ergs, relays and lots of fun!

In September, during Sports Week, we took part in the first edition of the Local Communities Games (Igre krajevnih skupnosti) at Športni park Portorož! 🏅

One of the 8 disciplines was indoor rowing: a 20 m run, a 4×250 m relay on the ergs and another 20 m run. A real beach sprint on dry land 😁

Some of our ROWACT women were competing too, each one representing her own local community 💪

The aim was to bring local people together through sport, socialising and fun, including adults who don’t often get out or aren’t very active. And it worked: everyone had a fantastic time! 🎉

Thanks to the organisers, all participants and the cheering crowd. See you next year! 👋

Age is just a number. Rowing proves it every day 🚣‍♀️✨

Eight women with an average age of 80, one boat and a goal that has never been reached before. In Boston, a women’s eight from Marin Rowing (California) is set to make history as the first all-octogenarian women’s crew to race the legendary Head of the Charles Regatta.

What moves us most? None of them picked up an oar before turning 50. 💪

That is exactly the heart of ROWACT. It is never too late to start, to get stronger, and to find a crew that pushes you forward, stroke after stroke. These women are living proof that rowing builds strength, balance and friendships that last a lifetime.

To all our ROWACT rowers: this is where consistency can take you. Keep training, keep believing, keep rowing together! ❤️

Stronger together, every single week 💪🚣‍♀️

These photos come from the University of Porto, and they show the spirit of ROWACT at its best. Every week our ladies meet to train together: arms up, smiles on, and a tight line moving as one crew.

Rowing starts long before you step into a boat. It starts when you decide to take care of yourself, when you support each other, and when you discover that movement has no age limit.

Every session builds a little more strength, balance and confidence. And every step is taken together, just like on the water: same rhythm, same direction. 🌊

A huge thank you to the Uniporto team and to all the participants for your contagious energy! ❤️

📘 Track your gains and level up with the ROWACT Passport to Progress!
Consistency is key to athletic development! In the ROWACT project, every athlete uses a personal Passport to Progress to record their journey across Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels.
How it works in 3 simple steps:
1️⃣ Fill in your details: Name, club, age, and training period.
2️⃣ Collect your stamps: Complete 20 sessions (4 in each of the 5 categories). After every workout, your coach signs or stamps your passport!
3️⃣ Level Transition: Once all 20 boxes are stamped, your coach validates your achievement and officially unlocks the next skill tier!
Keep moving, stay consistent, and celebrate every milestone! 🏆✨

☀️🚣‍♀️ Our first race together: Via le Mani 2026

On Sunday our ROWACT crew joined the 14th edition of Via le Mani – Hands Off Women, hosted by Canottieri Mincio in Mantova, with the same event taking place at the same time in Rome. Two cities, two waterways, one shared message: hands off women. 💙

For many of us, this was our very first race. Over the past months we have been following the ROWACT training method, built on regular training, technique and attention to wellbeing, and on Sunday we finally put it all into practice. The nerves at the start soon gave way to rhythm, teamwork and plenty of smiles at the finish line.

Taking part in a race was a way to measure ourselves, compare our progress with other crews and, at the same time, share the ROWACT message with a wider community. Our approach is rigorous but open to everyone: sport for all, involving not only the rowers on the water but also the families and friends supporting them from the shore. 🤝

A special thank you goes to Annalisa Acquistapace, the physiotherapist who leads our weekly online stretching sessions. Having her with us on race day was invaluable. 🙏

Thank you to Canottieri Mincio for the warm welcome, to the organisers of Via le Mani for keeping such an important cause on the water, and to everyone who cheered us on.

This was just the beginning. See you on the water! 🌊

ROWACT Training Planning Model
Legenda: 🚣‍♀️ Ever wondered how gamified indoor rowing keeps women 50+ motivated?
The ROWACT project (co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ program) promotes physical activity for women over 50 through a structured, 20-session progression system!
Here is how the plan works:
✨ 20 Sessions per Cycle:
Complete 4 workouts across 5 key training dimensions to complete a level.
🎯 5 Core Dimensions:
1️⃣ Technique & Fluidity – Posture, wrist control & stroke connection
2️⃣ Endurance & Rhythm – Continuous rowing & steady pacing
3️⃣ Intervals & Energy (MVIT) – Moderate-to-vigorous interval training
4️⃣ Strength & Power – Low cadence, explosive drive & effort contrast
5️⃣ Social & Challenge – Team relays, sync rowing & blind cadence drills

🚣‍♀️ Ready, set… row!
Tomorrow our ROWACT crew will be at the start of Hands Off Women, rowing at Canottieri Mincio in Mantova, while the same event takes place at the same time in Rome. Two cities, one message. 💪
Months of training and shared effort on the water have led us here, and there's no better reason to row together than this one.
A huge thank you to everyone rowing with us and cheering from the shore, in Mantova and in Rome. See you on the water! 🌊
