Reflection and mixed emotions on the weekend at the Portimao boxe cup. Not the best tournament in my opinion, but no excuses we learnt some valuable lessons.

fought a tough and a more experienced apponant, who actually went on to win the group. For his first fight Harry gave a good account of himself but lost on points.

also lost to a tough apponant but in my opinion was the better fighter, we just got the game plan wrong and by the 3rd round was too late, she lost on a points decision.

The main lesson being, the better fighter doesn't always win. We will move onto the next one, better and stronger that's for sure.

On a positive note, and both won Gold, and boxed very well.
Despite losing their coach 2 months before the competition, they maintained discipline and structure and continued to train by themselves.

A NEW ERA starts tomorrow at the Algarve Fight Academy. Our very first sponsored Amateur boxers and will compete tomorrow and this weekend in the Portimao boxe cup.

Tomorrow will mark the start of the AFA fight team and these two have definitely earned their place.
For 8 weeks they have trained hard and proved they have what it takes to compete.

One of my goals when taking over at AFA was to compete and produce fighters, collaborate with other gyms and help improve the amateur boxing scene in Portugal.

Today we relax, the hard work is done. Tomorrow we go to war......let's gooooooooo team AFA🔥🔥🔥
