People often think the Algarve is all about July and August.

But ask enough people who live here and you’ll hear the same thing again and again:
September is special.

It’s still warm. The sun is still there. The sea is still inviting.
But the rush starts to disappear.
The light changes in the afternoon, the roads get quieter and the countryside around Silves starts to feel more peaceful again.

For us, it also means the afternoon tours become much more comfortable because the extreme summer heat is slowly backing off.

𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿… 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵😂

During peak summer, arranging a nice lunch for a group after a tour can sometimes feel like a military operation.
Restaurants are full, tables are limited and suddenly you’re negotiating over 12 chairs like your life depends on it.

September is different.
Things calm down, restaurants have more space again and that makes it much easier to turn a buggy tour into a full day out.

We do the adventure first, explore the countryside around Silves and build up an appetite. Then afterwards you sit down somewhere, order something good and start replaying everything that happened on the tour.

That’s one of my favourite combinations for groups.

𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗜 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁… 😂

One of the nicest compliments I received this summer wasn’t actually about the buggies.
It was people telling me: “𝙒𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙨𝙤 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝.”
And I really like that.

Of course, you book a buggy tour because you want to drive and have fun. But for me, it would be a shame to take people through this area without telling them anything about it.

So somewhere between the dusty tracks and the viewpoints, I’ll probably tell you something about Silves, local life, the countryside, a bit of history and probably a story that isn’t in any tourist guide.

There will also be a few bad jokes involved. That part is unavoidable. 😂
For me, the best tours are the ones where people leave with more than a few photos.
They leave with stories.
And maybe a slightly dusty T-shirt.

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁. 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿.😎

August in the Algarve is hot, loud, busy and a little bit chaotic. And I love it for what it is.

But then September arrives.
Suddenly the roads get quieter, the temperatures become friendlier and the whole area seems to breathe again. Personally, this is one of my favourite months.

If you only know the Algarve from July and August, September shows you another side of it. A slower, softer and somehow more local version.

I’ve done a lot of buggy tours.
You’d think that after a while, it might start feeling like “just another day.”

It doesn’t.
Every group is different.
One family starts quietly and finishes laughing nonstop.
One couple arrives slightly nervous and leaves planning their next tour.
One group of friends turns everything into a competition within five minutes.
And every time we reach a beautiful spot, I still enjoy seeing the Algarve through our guests’ eyes.

Occupational hazard. 😂
