Because your muscles aren’t gonna stretch themselves.
Stretches are as important as the workout itself ... they:
• increase your ROM (Range of motion)
• Improve blood flow to the muscles which increases the recovery process.
• Prevent injures
• Decrease stress
In this video you can see some of the basic stretches I do 3 - 4 times a week, it should take somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes.
