1878 - John had been a keen horse rider up until his horse died. Instead of purchasing another horse, he tried a bicycle which were still in their infancy of development. John found riding the bike so uncomfortable he ended up in excruciating pain after sitting on the wooden seat. It was at this point he vowed to make something much more comfortable: it would not be long until a prototype was created.

Brooks B1 Leather Bag is the fruit of a successful collaboration with the Royal College of Art in London (RCA) using the same machinery and techniques employed to make famous Brooks Leather Saddles. The shape is based on the width of the famous B17 saddle, Brooks most iconic model, for the B1 and B2 bags, and twice that width for the larger B3 edition. The B1 can be fitted on the bike by attaching the bag to the saddle loops, or the bag may also be worn on a belt, or as a shoulder bag thanks to the detachable strap that accompanies it.

The B17 Imperial features the central cut-out, first designed by BROOKS over 100 years ago. The “registered cutting”, as can be read in the 1890 catalogue, is “a sure preventive to all perineal pressure".

First produced in 1979, the C**t became famous among Brooks fans for its strength and durability. Today the C**t appeals to a new generation already romanced by the 80's retro look, and has been re-introduced in colours that appeal to this younger, style-conscious demographic. The vibrant colours are achieved through natural vegetable dyes, as are all leathers in the Brooks product line.
