"In ten years from now I see myself still practicing. I don’t think this will stop once I’ve started and practiced for so long… I really like Ashihara-Karate! I do it with passion. Apart from this martial arts style I practice other sports and I want to practice them, but I think the base will remain Ashihara-Karate. I will continue to teach and maybe I will compete in one more championship. All I want in the next ten years is to give back everything I got from this sport."

„I have met Kancho Hidenori Ashihara on several occasions, such as seminars and tournaments. Out of all meetings one stood out: when I got to interact with him the most, that was when I came to Japan, to the Ashihara-Karate’s headquarter, to take the black belt’s second degree exam. That was quite a story…”
ALEXANDER LAVRUSHIN: I’M PROBABLY THE ONLY HONORARY 2ND DAN BLACK BELT FROM ASHIHARA-KARATE
Alexander Lavrushin: I wanted to find a martial art with sparring rules closer to a real-life fighting and Ashihara-Karate fulfilled that requirement.

„- And this doesn’t create a negative image especially because leaders of other organizations, such as Dave Jonkers and Jōkō Ninomiya, have recently supported seminars in Romania?
– We must, however, relate to the size of the organizations. NIKO is a much larger structure than AIKO (Ashihara International Karate Organisation) or Enshin-Karate. In addition, Enshin-Karate is a very rigid organization, structured in much the same way as NIKO, in Branches. However, there is a common denominator of these structures, namely that none is involved in the establishment of official protocols with the states where they activate. Overall, it’s about policy in sport, where leaders decide the line to follow. I, knowing the other martial arts organizations, the laws and the structure of the International Olympic Committee, I would appreciate if Hidenori Ashihara would guide us to form continental and world federations such as those from Judo, Karate, Boxing, etc. We can not compare with other world or European federations which have the legal capacity and the structure to involve national decision-makers, local communities, or to attract people and sponsors. Here in Romania, I’m broken by NIKO’s help. For example, in Wushu, the international organization has direct contacts with state structures, assists with equipments the national federations, sends specific trainers to support thematic seminars, and all this paid out of the money of world or European organizations, with the goal of developing their sporting sector.”
PETRICĂ BULMAGĂ: "IF A FULL-CONTACT COMPETITION IS ACCEPTED AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES AND IF GRAPPLING WILL BE ALLOWED, ASHIHARA-KARATE WILL HAVE AN ADVANTAGE"
PETRICĂ BULMAGĂ: If a full-contact competition is accepted at the Olympic Games and if grappling will be allowed, Ashihara-Karate will have an advantage.

„We have the Ashihara system, which differs from other full-contact styles by grappling and throwing. Sabaki isn’t tipical Ashihara-Karate, because means body movement. We have Sabaki in Judo; in Kyokushin we also have body movement. In Ashihara-Karate we call it Sabaki because you go to the side, grab and throw. One thing adapted to the AIKO style is the Goshin system and it means self-defense, being allowed punching to the face and elbow techniques. (Shihan Dave Jonkers)”

DAVE JONKERS AT AIKO ROMANIAN CAMP: "SABAKI IS NOT SPECIFIC ASHIHARA-KARATE, BECAUSE MEANS BODY MOVEMENT. IN AIKO, WE HAVE THE GOSHIN SYSTEM WHICH PROMOTES SELF-DEFENSE USING THE SABAKI PRINCIPLE"
