A Short History of DUMOG

Dumog is a Filipino form of ground fighting that has been practiced for centuries in the Philippines, particularly in the Central and Western Visayas regions.

In Panay and Negros, Dumog was traditionally associated with the Sakada, Tapasiro, and tribal farmers and land workers. During the early days, these workers spent long hours in the fields and plantations. During their breaks and free time, Dumog became a form of physical practice, recreation, and entertainment among the workers.

The word Dumog is traditionally explained through two words:
'DU'- from Duta, referring to dirt, ground, or earth.
'MOG'- associated with Mamumogon, referring to farmers or land workers.

Together, these terms reflect the connection between the people, the land, and the practice of fighting on the ground.
The regions of Panay and Negros have historically been important agricultural areas, particularly known for their extensive sugarcane and rice plantations. The farming communities developed strong physical skills through their daily work, and Dumog became part of the cultural practices shared among them.

One of the areas strongly associated with Dumog practitioners is Antique, in Panay, which has long been known for its agricultural communities and rice production. The knowledge and practice of Dumog were passed from one generation to another through practical training, community gatherings, and traditional ways of life.

Dumog is more than simply a ground-fighting method. It represents the relationship between the Filipino people, the land, physical labor, community, and survival skills.
Today, Dumog continues to be practiced and developed as part of the broader Filipino Martial Arts tradition, preserving an important aspect of the fighting heritage and cultural history of the Philippines.

Bayanihan is a Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) community event that celebrates unity, collaboration, and mutual respect among practitioners of all FMA styles. Inspired by the Filipino spirit of bayanihan, the event brings together different schools, organizations, and instructors to strengthen friendships, build alliances, and promote cooperation within the martial arts community.

The event features cross-training sessions, where participants learn and share techniques from various FMA systems, fostering growth, understanding, and camaraderie. It also includes an awarding ceremony to recognize the achievements, dedication, and contributions of practitioners, instructors, and supporters who continue to advance and preserve the traditions of Filipino Martial Arts.

Am creat această secțiune în cadrul Clubului Urban Tactical Fight pentru a organiza și a susține stagii de pregătire tactică și autoapărare profesională, dedicate atât personalului din structurile de ordine și siguranță publică, dar și celor interesați de dezvoltarea competențelor în acest domeniu.

Această secțiune este rezultatul experienței acumulate în 25 de ani de activitate în structurile operative ale Ministerului Afacerilor Interne și al dorinței de a contribui la pregătirea și dezvoltarea profesională a celor care activează în domeniul tactic sau sunt interesați să își perfecționeze cunoștințele și abilitățile printr-o instruire bazată pe profesionalism, practică și realism.
