🎓SINU STUDENTS EXPLORE ETHICS IN SPORT THROUGH INTERVIEW AT SINIS

A group of students undertaking SNU600 Ethics Studies from the Faculty of Education and Humanities at the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) visited the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) today to conduct research on ‘ethics in sport’ as part of their academic studies.

The students met with SINIS Performance Manager for Portfolio Three (Racquet, Aquatic, Target and Individual Sports), Jimmy Luitolo, to gain insights into the role of ethics in sport and its importance within the Solomon Islands context.

Speaking on behalf of the group, David Kikolo said the interview formed part of their Ethics course assignment and provided valuable information that would support their research and learning.

💪WINI BEGINS COMMONWEALTH GAMES BUILD-UP IN AUSTRALIA

Solomon Islands weightlifting champion Jenly Wini departed for Australia yesterday to begin an intensive four-week training camp as part of her preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, which will take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026.

Wini will train in Dromana, Melbourne, under the guidance of renowned coach Paul Coffa as she prepares for what will be her fifth Commonwealth Games appearance.

The experienced lifter recently received confirmation from the Oceania Weightlifting Federation (OWF) that she has officially qualified for the Games after securing a place among the top eight athletes in the women's 53kg category following her championship performance in Canada.

NSC WELCOMES JAPANESE PHYSIOTHERAPY VOLUNTEER YUKI NISHIKAWA🇸🇧🤝🇯🇵

The National Sports Council (NSC), through the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS), is pleased to welcome Japanese physiotherapy volunteer Yuki Nishikawa, who has officially commenced his two-year attachment under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Volunteer Program.

Mr. Nishikawa, a qualified physiotherapist from Japan, joins SINIS with professional experience working in hospital settings.

Speaking to NSC MEDIA, he said: “My role is to support the High Performance physiotherapy staff and athletes through assessment, rehabilitation, injury prevention programs and education. I hope to gain experience working in sports physiotherapy in an international environment.”

NSC BUILDS AQUATIC EXPERTISE🌊

National Sports Council Aquatics Manager, Cindy Aungarima, has returned from Fiji where she was involved in both the Oceania Swimming Championships and a regional aquatic sports development program held from 7–20 May 2026, gaining valuable technical and professional experience in swimming officiating, coaching development, and competition management.

The program brought together officials, coaches, and aquatic sport representatives from across the Pacific, aimed at strengthening technical knowledge, improving competition standards, and supporting the overall development of aquatic sports in the region.
