🌱🍫 Teaching farmers about Heap Fermentation – a simple, low-cost way to bring out the best in cocoa!

We are excited to be able to bring this training to our farmers under the ongoing Specialty Cocoa Development Project in the Solomon Islands.

Heap fermentation is a traditional and effective way to improve cocoa quality. By fermenting cocoa beans in heaps, farmers can:
✔️ Develop better flavor
✔️ Reduce bitterness and astringency
✔️ Add value to their harvest

The method is affordable, uses only locally available materials, and is especially suited for smallholder farmers.

Sharing this knowledge helps improve both cocoa quality and farmer livelihoods. ✨

✂️🌱As part of our ongoing IPDM training under the PIFS project, farmers are learning the importance of pruning and cleaning their farms to remove diseased and pest-infested branches.
Healthy trees = better yields 🍫✨ — boosting both cocoa production and quality for our communities.
