Our local infrastructure construction people should learn from the Japanese contractor whose workers are hard at work, refurbishing our roads. They ensure these infrastructures (road) are user friendly for all. That includes our people with special needs, especially those on wheelchairs. That's what's called 'inclusive' development programs.

TEAM-PARA GETS BOOST FROM ANOLPHA ENT. LTD FOR PACIFIC MINI GAMES
THE SOLOMON Islands National Paralympics Committee (SINPC) and its team have this week received a $20,000 boost from the Anolpha Enterprises Limited for the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu, which is set to start next week.
Anolpha Enterprises Limited has been a regular supporter of the Para sports but never had the opportunity to show case it, something the company’s Manager Admin Lorrein Koga confirmed.
She said the company has a lot of hope that the squad heading to Vanuatu will return home triumphant.
“We have seen them train in preparation for the competitions and we see champions among them,” Anolpha’s representative expressed when handing over the $20,000 cheque to the team’s representative, Shadrack Timothy.
“Today, we are here to support team para’s road to the mini games and to wish them the very best and assure them of our continued support,” Ms. Koga shared.
The Manager Admin was also accompanied by Flidders Pige, Anolpha's rep from its steel and water cottage section, who also shared similar sentiments, highlighting that it was also an honour for the company to assist team para.
Ms. Pige added that this assistance is something the company now treasure and have no regrets in doing.
She further adds that it is also the company’s wish to help empower people with such special needs, “stressing that with the team’s current record, Anolpha as a new stakeholder to SINPC, is confident paralympics Solomons will continue to do good, representing the nation.
When receiving the donation, Wheelchair Table Tennis rep, Shadrack Timothy tspecifically hanked the owner of Anolpha Enterprises Limited for his swift response to the team's short notice request and promised to do his best to produce positive results and hopes to make everyone including their key sponsors and supporters proud.
Also present at the low key handover ceremony were supporting members of the people with special needs community and team officials, who have been supporting
Paralympics in training and administration.
“The Paralympics athletes are really great people and we have had good time working and interacting with some of them. The Paralympics really need support and we are happy to step in when they need it most,” the two Anolpha representatives shared.
Nina Davis, the president of SINPC said: “I want thank the Management of Anolpha Enterprises Limited for accepting our request and have now decided to walk with us all the way.
The President also thanked Anolpha for what she described as a bail out for the committee and its athletes who have struggled with finances since the team for the games was announced earlier.
Ms. Davis explained that the assistance which Anolpha Enterprises Limited rendered will go towards what has been allocated for the team’s daily allowances while at the games, as the government is set to meet all teams’ other costs, which includes their uniforms and travels.
A team of 10, comprising of athletes, officials, trainers and the athletes' care givers, will leave on Sunday for Vanuatu to compete at the tournament.
Meanwhile, team leader and President, Ms. Davis revealed that it is also the committee’s wish to ensure not all funds in hand are not exhausted.
This she added is to help enable the committee to send its athletes abroad for their classifications and licensing.
“It is important that our athletes are classified let alone be licensed because out of all the challenges, getting through this process is the biggest we face and in order to get those, they have to take part in regional and international IPC sanctioned tournaments.
“It is with these reasons that we intend to have some extras from what we are supported with, but I also urge other business houses and stakeholders to step up and be part of team Paralympics Solomon Islands,” the SINPC President briefly explained when interviewed after the handover ceremony on Tuesday.
