Regulating your nervous system is a practice. It starts exactly where you are, with your breath.

Your breath is the anchor that brings you back to the present moment.

When you breathe slowly into the lower diaphragm, the nervous system begins to relax. The vagus nerve activates. The parasympathetic system comes online. Cortisol lowers. The body begins to down regulate.

It is simple.

Breathe in for five seconds through your nose.
Let the breath move into your lower belly.
Place your hand there and feel it rise.

Then breathe out for five seconds through your nose.

Five seconds in.
Five seconds out.

Continue for five minutes.

Set an alarm every hour and return to this breath. Practice consistently.

Over time, you teach your body something powerful — you are safe.

Many of us have lived in years of fight or flight. Stress patterns create shallow breathing. The chest tightens. The throat closes. The body forgets how to soften.

This breath re-educates the system.

It takes patience.
It takes repetition.
It takes grace.

But it starts today.

You have the birthright to regulate your own nervous system.

Believe in yourself. You have the ability to heal on every level of your being. Choose self love. Choose self compassion. Choose to breathe.
