***Creating the Non-competitive Competition***
For the last two days I have been writing Feedback Reports for the entries to the first ever "Groundwork Self-competition". I created this event because I felt there was a need for a way to bridge the gap between training and competition. I wanted an event that gave the benefits of a conventional competition - a clear deadline and aim to work toward, improve and pit your skills against. More importantly I wanted everyone that made an effort to participate to have their effort acknowledged, to be able to reward the progress they made and give meaningful feedback.
The response has been phenomenal! Using this format I have been able to provide four/five page personalised reports to every contestant. It obviously takes a bit more time than just giving a score value and adding totals but the response I've had makes that effort worthwhile!
The next "Groundwork Self-competition" will run in January as December is full of fun with our festive program including Candy Cane Can Yous and the Photo Competition. I'm loving seeing updates on our group, From the Heart Horsemanship Community. If you aren't sure how a non-competitive competition would work then check out the group! So much support in one place because this is about you, your journey, your progress!
