As part of the ’Portraits de Femmes’ project, labeled by Alès Agglo Scène des Mondes and running from May 2024 to June 2025, the Art’Attack association coordinated the creation of ten monumental artworks installed on the walls of the former foundry on Rue Marcel Paul in Alès. These portraits pay tribute to influential female figures, collectively chosen by local women’s groups reflecting the diversity of the territory.

The portrait of Gisèle Pélicot, an iconic figure of feminism, holds a special place in this series. It was created in mosaic form, based on an original illustration by the artist Cecilia Lundgren, published on the cover of Vogue Germany on November 25, 2024, for the
International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

This piece was created collectively, involving several women’s associations from the area—many of whom had initially nominated the figures to be portrayed. They took part
in the mosaic construction, with guidance from Valérie Chabanis, a visual arts teacher
and professional mosaicist known as Valmosaïc.

This detailed and collaborative work served not only to celebrate a key activist figure, but
also to strengthen bonds among the participants through a shared artistic experience.
