Today I'd like to update you on the current situation here at the Huskykennel. Since the beginning of winter, we've had hardly any snow.
Unfortunately, we've had several days with temperatures up to plus 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit). At night, the temperatures even dipped above freezing.
The worst part was yesterday's storm, "Johannes," which also hit us. Many trees were uprooted or broken and power lines were damaged.
Even now, we still have temperatures above freezing, and there's hardly any snow left. The ice on the lakes is very unsafe. The large river is even ice-free.

The current situation unfortunately doesn't allow us to offer any activities that rely on snow or ice. I wish it were different. We urgently need cold temperatures and at least 40 cm (16 inches) of fresh snow to be able to offer activities again. The weather forecast predicts a further drop in temperature, but there's no sign of any significant snowfall at the moment.

That's the harsh reality. I'm not known for sugarcoating the facts and attracting guests who then end up disappointed or hurt.

Hello wonderful people! I hope you all are fine. Here at 64°North the days get shorter and we had already below 0 Celsius.

Happy Easter to all of you!
Due to the climate exchange we have now to little snow to go on. So it is also the official end of our winter season. This winter was extremly short, but we had also some very great moments. Thank you to all our wonderful guests who spent some unforgettable moments with our fantastic dogs and me aswell. We can't have it all, but we are happy about everything we get. Always look on the bright side of life!

Hello wonderful people! Today is the shortest day of the year with 4 hours and 7 minutes here at 64° north. Little fun fact: Reykjavik in Iceland is south of our geographic position. Actually we have - 30° Celsius, and about 60 cm of snow. Have all a great weekend and stay healthy. Christian
