🗾In 1583, General Toyotomi Hideyoshi had Osaka Castle (大阪 城 )🏯 built from the rubble of the ancient temple of Ishiyama Hongan-ji of the Ikkō-ikki.
Here there were battles that contributed to the unification of the country during the sixteenth century.
Osaka Castle was designed to be the largest. It has eight floors and three basements. It took about fifteen years to complete.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi died in the very year of completion.
Inside the castle park there is the largest garden in the city (over two square kilometers). Inside the park there are some gardens, including that of Nishinomaru in which six hundred cherry trees are planted.
Other areas of the park are the Osakajo Hall arena, the shrine dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi and sports spaces.
