Looking for buddy municipalities — Europe Goes Local

The SALTO SEE Resource Centre is launching the Municipality Buddy Support System as part of Europe Goes Local.

They are connecting municipalities in Erasmus+ Programme countries with counterparts in the Western Balkans to build peer-to-peer partnerships on the internationalisation of local youth work. No training, no expert role — just exchange, inspire, and collaborate as equals.

What you get:
· New connections with municipalities motivated to grow local youth work
· Inspiring practices from different contexts across Europe
· A foundation for future Erasmus+ and ESC cooperation
· Methodological support from SALTO SEE throughout

Vill ni stärka den internationella dimensionen i er ungdomsverksamhet? Hitta en internationell “buddy” och utveckla er verksamhet tillsammans

Nu finns möjlighet att delta i ett europeiskt initiativ där kommuner matchas i par för att lära av varandra och utveckla nya samarbeten. Syftet med initiativet är att stärka det lokala ungdomsarbetet genom internationellt utbyte där ni kan dela erfarenheter, hitta nya arbetssätt och lägga grunden för framtida samarbeten, exempelvis inom Erasmus+ och Europeiska solidaritetskåren.

Deltagandet sker helt online under hösten 2026 och omfattar ett mindre antal gemensamma träffar och utbyten med er matchade partnerkommun.

Three wonderful days are over and what a conference it has been. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who made KEKS Conference 2026 something truly special. For three days we gathered at Lindholmen in Gothenburg to share ideas, experiences, laughter, conversations and inspiration about the future of open youth work.

More than 700 youth workers from 13 different countries came together through seminars, workshops, study visits, coffee breaks, late night conversations, dinners and dance floors. We talked about everything from democracy, inclusion and mental health to gaming, AI, creativity and youth participation. We shared stories from Sweden, Ukraine, Armenia, Scotland and many other places and were reminded of how important youth work is no matter where in the world we are.

A huge thank you to all speakers, workshop leaders, participants, volunteers, organizers and partners who shared their knowledge, energy and commitment. Thank you to our amazing hosts Stella Eriksson and Tony Weseth from Arena Satelliten, to Liz Green from YouthLink Scotland and to everyone else who helped shape these days.

And thank you to YOU who came here with curiosity, experience and a willingness to grow together with others. You are what makes this conference what it is.

Now we leave Gothenburg with new perspectives, new ideas, new connections and hopefully even more motivation to continue creating safe, inclusive and meaningful spaces for young people.

Dag 1 av KEKS Konferensen 2026 är avklarad 🎉 och vilken start det blev. ✨

En mäktig invigning med Tony Weseth och Stella Eriksson från Arena Satelliten som konferencierer, inspirerande keynote med Liz Green från Scotland och tal från generalsekreterare Jenny Haglund.

Dagen fortsatte med första seminariepasset, nya möten, stora idéer och avslutades med fest långt in på kvällen. Nu laddar vi för dag 2 🚀

Idag börjar KEKS konferensen men redan igår smygstartade de 50 internationella deltagarna sitt program. Vi begav oss ut till 1200kvadrat i Frölunda där vi hade vår lokal för dagen. Vi startade med att alla berättade kring sin organisation och hur de arbetar. På eftermiddagen hade vi ett studiebesök i Tynnered och på mötesplatsen Spacet. Nu ser vi fram emot att träffa alla på konferensen och tre fantastiska dagar tillsammans.

KEKS Awards är vårt sätt att lyfta fram personer, verksamheter och organisationer som gör skillnad på riktigt, som driver utvecklingen framåt, inspirerar andra och visar vilken kraft som finns i öppen ungdomsverksamhet.

Over the years, EGL has been an important force in strengthening and developing local youth work across Europe. At KEKS, we are happy to be part of this community, and especially proud to see Jonas Agdur featured in the anniversary interview. 📣Through the European Charter on Local Youth Work, EGL has established a commonly agreed ground and framework for youth work and made clear what providers must consider when designing both policy and practice. The Charter has given local youth work the ‘backbone’ and the direction that it previously lacked' - shared with us Jonas Agdur, member of EGL Steering Group and KEKS Senior Adviser. 🎯
