What goes around comes around, so at Vélosophy we produce our bikes using recycled aluminium. What is otherwise looked at as waste is given new life as a bike.
It’s a beautiful way to sustain our earth’s resources and just one of the ways we put life in motion. 🌀🌱

We may be a small company, but we are ambitious and determined to challenge the bicycle industry as we know it. We constantly do it through our brand promise < Putting Life in Motion >.

We put life in motion when we donate a bicycle for each one we sell. We put life in motion when the donated bicycles are manufactured locally in developing countries, supporting local labour and local businesses. We put life in motion when we manufacture our bikes using recycled aluminium. We put life in motion when we inspire more people to use pedal power as their first choice of transportation.

In short: Vélosophy is – part bicycle, part philosophy.

RE:CYCLE - Recycling upcyled ♻️🌱

Through our One for One donation program i.e we provide a young schoolgirls with a bike, for every Vélosophy sold – we’re able to create following impact:

➡️ Reduced school absenteeism by 28%
➡️ Reduced schoolgirl’s commute time by more than 33%
➡️ Increased punctuality by 66%
➡️ Increased schoolgirls’ performances/results by 60%

In addition to these statistics we’ve learned that a number of girls using our bicycles also feel an increased sense of control, improved self-image, greater bargaining power within their households and increased pro-sociality, meaning they are more willing to help a friend join local clubs and possess improved leadership knowledge.

Our bikes are sustainably made out of 95% recycled aluminium and responsibly sourced in Europe. One of very few bicycle brands using recycled aluminium at all, and the only one offering a level of 95% recycled aluminium. Through our sourcing scheme we are actively preventing landfill waste, lowering greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to a closed and resourceful material loop ♻️🌱

Interviewer: Can you provide a brief history of Vélosophy and how the idea of providing eco-friendly bicycles originated?

Jimmy: One article. That is how it started. Reading and learning from that specific article, which stated that in many parts of the world a bicycle could mean the difference between life and death, gave me purpose and motivation to found a bicycle brand revolving around a One-for-One promise. With purpose came a mission and we set out to become the most sustainable bike brand in the world, using as much recycled material in our bike as possible and combining it with a social mission; donating one bike for every one sold. Today we can proudly say that our frames are made from 95% recycled aluminium and that we have donated many thousands of bikes. Becoming a brand that is recognised to drive social and environmental change spurs us on every day.
