Our P18s have returned from a fantastic tour in Scotland.
Our newly formed 7s squad met formidable opponents in the fiercely competitive Melrose Sevens , ultimately won by Newcastle Red Bulls.
Our lads had learnt enough in the limited time they had with our very own 7s expert, Ian Gowland, to defend valiantly enough to prevent any heavy defeats, scoring some beautiful tries along the way.
They proudly smashed their goal of improving game by game, culminating with a superb, tight game versus our wonderful hosts, Melrose Rugby Club

On Sunday, Boroughmuir Rugby expertly hosted us for our first XV game of the season against their hugely successful U18 team. A blistering start by Kjell Norman 's lads enabled them to reach half-time with an impressive 12-7 lead.
In the 2nd half, a combination of tired bodies from the previous day's exertions and the emptying of a bench full of young Scottish superstars, meant that the locals had the lead when the game was unfortunately called off due to a suspected neck injury, which thankfully was later cleared in hospital.

After some wonderful post-match hospitality, which included plenty of Irn-Bru & Tea Cakes, the lads wandered around Edinburgh's beautiful city centre in glorious sunshine to round off a memorable weekend.

Coach Ian Gowland is pleased to announce his U18 squad to represent Stockholm Exiles at the Melrose Sevens 2 weeks from now.
Well done to all our lads that put huge effort in over the last few weeks with extra 7s sessions to try to make the cut.
It was a very tight call for many, but those that didn’t make it will be there to proudly support and have an exciting XV game to look forward to versus Boroughmuir Rugby on the Sunday.

Only 4 weeks to go for our U18s to test themselves against an incredibly strong line-up at the Melrose Sevens.

Our whole squad is currently training under the expert guidance of Ian Gowland, and a final team of 12 players will soon be chosen to represent Exiles at this prestigious tournament.

All our boys will travel to Scotland and those that don’t make the 7s squad will be playing a XVs game versus Boroughmuir Rugby on the Sunday.

A lot to look forward to this early in the season!

The groups are set for the Jim Telfer Cup - and this year’s U18 tournament is shaping up to be one not to miss on Sevens day.

With teams travelling from Scotland, England and beyond, the competition continues to grow in quality and reputation each year. And for 2026, our furthest travelling side joins us all the way from Sweden. 🇸🇪

This is where future stars test themselves on one of rugby’s biggest stages, with every team chasing the chance to reach the Greenyards final.

Fast rugby, big ambition and the next generation ready to make their mark.

A fantastic National Selection Camp down in Skåne.
We were proud to support 14 of our lads on their journey to Häljarp, and hopefully onwards to the Swedish P18 squad!

Under helgen hade svenska utvecklingslaget P18 uttagningsläger i Häljarp. Under lägret, där 50 killar från hela Sverige deltog, tittade vi på deras bollbehandling, passning och rugby IQ. Vi hade också övningar som kombinerades med matcher, delade backar och forwardar och gjorde klungträning och backträning på lördagseftermiddagen och avslutade med tacklingsteknik och tacklingsträning. På söndagen var det matchdag med 3x15 minuters matcher.

Förbundskapten, Sean Rollings säger så här:
"Jag är verkligen nöjd med helgens läger. Killarna presterade verkligen bra och det var ett nöje att coacha dem. Vi jobbade hårt under lördagen och satte killarna på prov och hade en tuff session på lördagseftermiddagen.

Matcherna på söndagen var hårda och tävlingsinriktade och träningsstaben kunde glatt konstatera att killarna verkligen hade tagit till sig och implementerade föregående dags instruktioner.

Jag vill också nämna träningsstaben, Chris Howell, Rikard Eklund samt manager Calle Caleman, utan vilka helgens läger inte hade fungerat. Och givetvis vill jag rikta ett speciellt tack till P.O. och Sofie Svensson från Clubhouse och Häljarp Heroes Rugby Club som försåg lägret med både logi och underbar mat."

The women’s team really stepped up over the weekend to get 11 players certified in World Rugby’s FAIR (First Aid In Rugby)!

🏉 U18 Team Announcement | Stockholm Exiles

We’re delighted to confirm that Stockholm Exiles U18s will travel to The Greenyards to compete in the Melrose Sevens U18 Tournament.

Their connection to Melrose Sevens runs deeper than many might realise. In 1961, Hunter Mabon, representing Heriot’s, helped secure a place in the Melrose Sevens final at The Greenyards before narrowly losing out in a hard-fought contest. Just a year later, Hunter moved to Sweden and went on to help establish Stockholm Exiles, laying the foundations for a club that remains central to Swedish rugby more than six decades on.

Founded in 1963, Stockholm Exiles are now widely regarded as the pre-eminent club in Swedish rugby, and their current U18 squad more than lives up to that reputation.

The Exiles U18s arrive as Viking Cup holders and Swedish League Champions, following an unbeaten domestic season. The squad also boasts significant international experience, with several players representing Sweden at the Rugby Europe U18 Sevens Trophy in Budapest last summer, alongside an impressive eight players selected for the Sweden U18 XVs squad.

We look forward to welcoming Stockholm Exiles U18s to Melrose as they add an international edge and a powerful rugby story to the 2026 U18 competition.
